On Arrival in Brazil my toe had worringly turned blue and white and I was limping. This man, Renato Endres, took one look at it and drove me to the doctor. . .
. . . she was a portly woman (slightly hairy too) who wiped my toe with an alcohol covered rag and muttered the word "operato" over and over to Renato. Shit bags.
He drove me to hospital where we jumped ahead of a load of people who looked far worse off than me and went into a room where a moustachioed man sat smoking a fag gazing out the window. He took a look at my toe, blathered something to Renato, (which unfortunately included the word "operato") and then ushered me into the adjacent room.
Coincidentally this too had a hairy man in it smoking a fag. . . the surgeon. He put me on the operating table, cracked a couple of funnies about how his real name was "Josef Mengele" (Chief medical officer at Auchwitz . . ha ha!) and then proceeded to anethsetize my toe, pop the blue and white bit and then slice round the edges. ouch.
It was not fun.
Renato was however a legend. Thanks.
This blister was out of control. Started on the bottom of my pinky toe, and then the next time I took the blister band-aid off, it had taken over the whole top of my toe, reaching to my toe nail. It was pretty freaky. The pictures really don't do the freakiness justice.

Bean has two toes on each front foot and three on each back foot. Sloths are classified for the number of toes on the front, so he is a two-toed sloth. There is also a three-toed species, which is a smaller animal overall.
Bean's nails do grow, and his human caregivers trim them.
