This used to be a common sight but now these are the only remaining examples I know of the old conical style tips.
This dwarf conifer comes from Tasmania or Southern Australia.
The plants are either male or female, very rare in conifers. The photograph is of a female plant.

Tipping points are "the levels at which the momentum for change becomes unstoppable." Gladwell defines a tipping point as a sociological term: "the moment of critical mass, the threshold, the boiling point."[ The book seeks to explain and describe the "mysterious" sociological changes that mark everyday life. As Gladwell states, "Ideas and products and messages and behaviors spread like viruses do."

This is a first for me. I have seen one last year, flitting through the garden, but it didn't alight on our plants.
My wife found this on our miniature Apple tree. It parked itself in the shade, so I made moves to lift it into the sunlight, as it was only about 6 deg. C.
This friendly little thing was happy to climb onto my finger and be photographed :-))
