As I was driving back to Anchroage from Seward I saw this mountain top. What grabbed my attention were the crisp sharp lines and angles of the snow on the mountain top.
An old picture. I really liked the contrast between the shapes of the tips and the shadows on the background. Hope you'll like it!

Growing in midst a yellow carpet of spurge (Euphorbia, Wolfsmilch)
This male Orange Tip was busy flying around when he decided to settle, this was my chance to grab a few shots before he took to the wing again.
I don't often get the chance to photograph these butterflies. They are constantly on the move and hardly ever land.
I was very lucky with this one.....except I didn't have my macro lens with me !
Rusty-tipped page (Siproeta epaphus) or brown siproeta, is a New World butterfly that lives all year in tropical habitats. Seen at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park's Butterfly Jungle
One from last year, keep seeing them go through garden but they do not stop. Will we get out in time to photograph these this year I wonder. Taken late evening with the low sun back lighting the butterfly and a little fill flash on front of subject. Kingcombe Meadows, Dorset.
After years of trying and being frustrated that they were always to fast, I finally managed to get a decent shot of an Orange tip. Stoked! Arnhem, Netherlands
Tip of the Usk reservoir.
Yes indeed just after the shutter click those clouds opened up good and proper, and continued to do so for almost the whole way back home - a very wet 10k on foot. Yes - yes I know Mr Magoo drives a car in the cartoons but I’m not a cartoon and haven’t driven for 30 years, and how the heck does he find his car is what I want to know??? Some sort of metal detector might do it I suppose but a lot can go wrong with that scenario, and how does he know it is his car and not one belonging to some axe wielding whacko whose cheese has slid totally off his cracker? Mind you, I might not be a cartoon but life can be cartoon like at times…..my wife and I were dining out once when some outraged stranger accused me of trying to steal his pudding, kid you not, I accidentally put my hand in his pudding, right in there, up to the wrist almost and somehow I am stealing it - seriously!?! It wasn’t my fault, I had no idea it was there, it shouldn’t have been where it was it really shouldn’t, but stealing it - honestly, can you imagine?? Ooh ooh look, that gooey thing all covered in custard looks delicious, I think I’ll just grab me a handful and hope he doesn’t notice!! An accident and accused of thievery. What could I do - I lamely held up my white stick and pointed at it with a custard covered finger. The cheek of the fellow - I should have sued him for burns! So there you have it, there’s a reason why I don’t drive and have to get wet - and if I want a pudding I’ll buy my own……..
…..probably.
What I liked on this shot was the bottom tip there was just a dot of light out of a ridge that caught light just above the tip.

Male Orange Tip on larvae food plant Lady's Smock. If you look closely you can see a freshly laid egg of an Orange Tip just below this male. Taken at Kingcombe Meadows West Dorset late evening with both butterfly and background lit by flash.
TIPS - LOOKING CLOSE.. ON FRIDAY! You know it is not easy taking a photo of your fingers while they are holding your phone camera.
