A close-up macro photograph of fresh green moss covered with delicate dew drops. The shallow depth of field highlights tiny water droplets clinging to the moss sporophytes, creating a soft, dreamy bokeh in the background. This image captures the quiet beauty of nature at a miniature scale and showcases the intricate details often overlooked in forest ecosystems. Perfect for lovers of macro photography, nature textures, and serene natural scenes.

A solitary fly agaric (Amanita muscaria) stands firm in the damp forest floor, its vivid red cap and delicate white stem breaking through the moss like a signal flare of autumn. Shot at ground level to capture its stature in a world of green and shadow — a quiet, almost regal emergence of one of nature’s most iconic fungi.

This is actually a portrait of myself that I decided could be put to better use

Over the weekend I visited two 'Little Gems'. This was the second and was part of the National Open Garden Scheme. The house called 'Furzelea' at Danbury, Essex. This opens a few times a year and has supported many charities of the years. It was beautifully set with plants and shrubs, a patio garden, a pond and other small gardens sprouting out of the main circular feature. Well worth the visit. See the National Garden book of Essex for details. Last and the most important, home made cakes to die for (Coffee and Walnut) and a cup of tea. Couldn't want any better than that, vibrant colour, photography, tea and a cake.

A cluster of mushrooms glowing from within, their gills lit by soft afternoon light and dripping with rain. Captured on my Nikon Z6II with the Nikkor Z 105mm f/2.8 Macro.

Focus stacked with Helicon Focus, finished in Lightroom. I skipped the tripod and lights to chase the fleeting warmth before dusk—worth every muddy knee.

Have been playing anolog to digital - using "old" equipment with "new" toys.

This process is still a work in progress for me with still a lot of throw aways. There was no cropping done on this image and I have no idea what power of magnification is involved. Focusing was done by moving the subject back and forth. Shot at f/4 - 1 sec and ISO-400. Not much DOF on this.

Reverse mounted lens - in this case it is my wife's old anolog Nikon Nikkor-S Auto 1:1.2 f=55mm. It is a standard Nikon lens from the good old film days. What I like about this lens is the ability to open it up to focus and then being able to stop it down to capture the light. Using a Macro reverse ring camera mount for Canon EOS camera (NIKO LMC-1 52mm adaptor) and a 36mm extension tube.

The Tiny World image was made in photoshop by taking the panorama and flipping the image 180 - so the sky is at the bottom - then stretching the photo around its poles.

The striped flea beetle (Phyllotreta striolata) is a small flea beetle, shiny black with a greenish tinge, 1.5 to 2.5 mm long, having a wavy amber line running the length of each elytron (wing cover). It is a pest of cabbage and other brassicas. When disturbed they use their powerful hind legs to jump away like a flea - hence, the name flea beetle.

The striped flea beetle were introduced from Eurasia, and is considered a pest.

Waiting for spring - going through some old folders.

Time spent in the backyard on an "Adventure" caught this sign of spring.

Ladybug (Coccinellidae) - A common name widely prefered is the name "Ladybird Beetle" or "Lady Beetles" as these insects are not true bugs. This is the seven-spot variety - one of the commonest species.

North America had has over 450 native species of ladybugs.

The Coccinellidae are generally considered useful insects
