I was reminding myself that a histogram doesn’t always have to form a perfect bell curve peaking in the middle — sometimes, it’s the mood that matters most.

This little mushroom caught my eye, standing alone in the fading light. No focus stacking, just a deep, narrow depth of field at f/1.2 — dark, moody, and blue.

Caught this little fellow hanging out in the garden. Painterly effect and sliding achieved on the iPhone.

I found this little guy inside a plastic flower pot inside my orchid shade house located in Miami, Florida. It hung around long enough for me to take this in your face photo.

A young fly agaric (Amanita muscaria) pushes through the moss beneath low-hanging pine branches. Its vivid red cap, still dusted with white flakes, contrasts sharply against the lush green forest floor. Captured at ground level to emphasize the sheltered, almost secretive atmosphere of the forest microcosm — a glimpse into nature’s quiet perfection before decay and time take over.

"A grasshopper captured with its perfect reflection on a smooth surface. The minimalist background and side light highlight every detail of its body, turning this tiny insect into a macro art subject."

This little guy was no more than an inch long.

First photo walk of the year. The holidays really got away from me, and this is the first time I have taken my camera out for pleasure in nearly two months. Lots of last minute family photo sessions, as well as too many to count community Santa photos.

Found this precious slug on top of a mushroom today. Had to give it a little photoshoot. My poor pup. He is always so disappointed when I decide to take my camera with me. We spent 3 hours and 45 minutes walking the property. In the first two hours, we had only gone 1.4 miles because I couldn't stop stopping. By the time we got back to the house, we had covered a total of 4.14 miles.

I have decided to delete social media from my cellphone for 2026. We'll see how long it goes. But analyzing my screen time every day and week, the amount of time I am spending on social media is ridiculous. Especially when you consider I have 50 acres of private land to frolic on any time I feel like it. I'm hoping to be more disconnected this year. My phone and social media addiction is real. I'm such a classic millennial.

Hopefully more magical forest images this year than ever before.

A dreamy evening.

A grasshopper resting on a grass stem, catching the low sunlight being reflected from the water side.

Unfortunately this little fellow is missing its left rear leg so I don't know how much hopping will be possible anymore..

Time spent in the backyard on an "Adventure" caught this sign of spring.

Ladybug (Coccinellidae) - A common name widely prefered is the name "Ladybird Beetle" or "Lady Beetles" as these insects are not true bugs. This is the seven-spot variety - one of the commonest species.

North America had has over 450 native species of ladybugs.

The Coccinellidae are generally considered useful insects

A cute little flower that seems to pop up everywhere in our garden. A fast growing perennial native to South America. It has clover like leaves that have burgundy foliage with yellow flowers. It continuously flowers all year round.

In our garden it is considered a weed as it seems to want to grow any-wheres it wants to.

Aeonium ‘Kiwi’ is a very attractive and showy plant. This succulent forms rosettes of fleshy, spoon-shaped leaves that are brilliantly colored.

Week 42: Outdoor Tiny Planets

Delicate yet powerful — this tiny seed carries the promise of new life. 🍂✨

Macro photography always reminds me how much beauty hides in the smallest corners of nature. Thank you for supporting my journey with your likes, shares, and follows. 🙏💚

Tiny world panorama rendered from 26 HDR stacks (3 rows of 8 picture stacks each + 1 nadir and 1 zenith, i.e. 45° horizontal and 45° vertical steps) at 15mm FF focal length with an aperture of F8. The images have been stitched and blended with Hugin in stereographic projection.

This abstract image is from the fireworks display in Idaho Falls on the 4th of July. To achieve the “Tiny Planet” effect or 360 degree look, it was transformed from rectangular to polar coordinates. The conversion was done on my iPad using the "Circular Tiny Planet Editor" app.

This is my first tiny world panorama, rendered from 26 exposures (3 rows of 8 pics each + 1 nadir and 1 zenith, i.e. 45° horizontal and 45° vertical steps) at 15mm FF focal length with an aperture of F 4.5. The images have been stitched and blended with Hugin in stereographic projection.

The common spangle gall wasp produces a small, disc-shaped growth, or 'gall', on the undersides of oak leaves. Inside the gall, the larvae of the wasp feed on the host tissues, but cause little damage.

ITALY

There is something about Italy, whether it’s the climate; or the food; the people; or the buildings and sculpture. All these wonderful ingredients, that make it such a terrific country to visit. It is probably my most favourite of all countries that I’ve visited to date. We’ve been there six times.
