This is the end of the tiniest pomegranate I have ever seen. I cropped the image to 1 centimeter to comply with this week’s stringent requirements. It was very painful to crop it so tightly because it destroyed the beauty of the composition. Oh well, we do what we have to do. 😘

Idea, poses and photo are done by Iris

The wonderful funny story is written by Ash

Special thanks to my sis River Anwyl for playing the copper ^^

This whole story started with the "Mr. Pinchy afair" which can be seen in the album in which I add this photo.

And a big thank you to Mr. Laurel and Mr. Hardy for being the inspiration!

And now without further ado on to the story. Thank you again for putting words to my silly ideas dearest Ash!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Come on Iris! Just stand up and let me put your chair on the roof and we can go already!.....It will be much faster if I did it!"

"Not a chance, Ash!", Iris grunted as she struggled to get her wheel chair on top of Ash's beat-up old chevette while balancing on a ladder placed against the mountain of stuff that was on top of Ash’s car. "I will feel much better knowing it was secured properly!"

Ash got behind the wheel of her "Classic" Hatchback and waited impatiently. The deafening rumbling noise from the hole in the chevette's muffler drowned out what Iris was trying to say. "Do you really need all this stuff, Ash?"

"What?", her pint-sized friend replied. "Are you ready yet?"

"NO!.....I am not ready, Ash!", Iris called out while struggling to firmly secure her wheel chair atop the mountain of "essential" items.

In the car's backseat, Ash's dog, Professor Noodle, pushed against the door causing the car to slightly shake as if someone had just gotten into the backseat. "Finally!", Ash said, thinking Iris had gotten in the back. "What? Your not talking to me now?", she added. Professor Noodle sniffed at Ash's ear. Ash laughed playfully, "knock it off, Iris! You know I hate that....... and eat a mint!.....Cheese-us your breath smells like you were licking a butthole or eating a tird sandwich or something!"

Ash put the car in drive and gunned it. From on top of the car's roof, Iris screamed out in horror as the car suddenly took off. All she could do was climb into her wheel chair, hold on to her hat and hang on for dear life.

The Chevette made it's way down the canyons winding roads on the way to the interstate. Iris was shrieking the entire time like a gay vampire who was locked outside a grave as the sun came up.

Inside the car, Ash was blasting Starship's Greatest Hits and was singing along at the top of her lungs. She was so caught up in the middle of her favorite song, “Nothings Gonna Stop Us Now”, that she didn't notice the motorcycle cop behind her with it's flashing lights on.

Officer Anwyl realized the driver of the chevette wasn't going to pull over, so she decided to take a shortcut and cut them off a few miles down the winding the road.

In no time, officer Anwyl was ahead of the chevette and stood in the middle of the road ready to order them to stop.

The hunk of rusty red metal rounded the corner at a high rate off speed. Iris was white knuckling her wheel chair as the tiny hatchback tilted on to two wheels. Mister Pinchy even slipped out of the side pocket he was stowing away in and hung on by his tiny little pincher. Officer Anwyl screamed out and high stepped out of the way, narrowly escaping the wrath of Ash's clunker with bad brakes. Ash had to pull up the emergency brake handle in order to stop the car.

"SHUT THE ENGINE OFF NOW!", commanded officer Anwyl. Ash killed the engine and could immediately hear Iris on top of the roof, hyperventilating.

Ash peaked her head out the window and looked up, "What are you doing up there, Iris? You trying to get me a ticket?" Iris stared down at Ash, her face flushed red, boiling over with anger.

"I am gonna need to see some ID", demanded officer Anwyl. Ash reached for her purse but was interrupted by the officer. "No not you ma'am, Teen Wolf up there", she said, pointing at Iris.

Iris was completely baffled. "ME?!"

"Yes you!. I am issueing you a summons for ‘Reckless Endangerment’ and for ‘Riding in a Non-Designated Passenger Compartment."

Iris stared down at Ash who was looking up at her with a sheepish smile on her lush lips and scratching the top of her head, and said: "Well, here's another nice mess you've gotten me into!"

Tiny little box turtle found by one of the ironworks fellow who was putting our big gates up. She is no larger than a silver dollar! Agatha- for Dame Agatha Christie :)

I noticed this extremely tiny, maybe 1/16th inch or 2 mm, Orb-Weaver spider in the begonias. Almost couldn't see it. I became intent, ok, obsessed :-), with getting a few photos of it. People walking by couldn't figure out what I was taking a photo of. :) Sorry for so many, most of which are not in sharp focus due to it move quickly and my leaning over trying to handheld my macro lens, but had to try. The bright morning sun blew out some of its fine details.

Sorry for so many photos again. All from the same morning walk yesterday. Saving since very cloudy today with chances of severe storms tonight and Sunday. No need to comment. :)

Many orchids are endangered, mostly due to habitat destruction and over-collection. The IUCN has assessed 880 species of orchids, and categorizes more than 500 of them as Vulnerable or Endangered—and of those, 162 are Critically Endangered. All orchids are protected by CITES. It is illegal, whether for profit or pleasure, knowingly or unknowingly, to transport orchids across international borders without the proper paperwork.

San Diego Zoo Global assists in the conservation of orchids. The San Diego Zoo is a Designated Plant Rescue Center. The Orchid House, with more than 900 orchid taxa, provides an appropriate environment for plants that have been confiscated from the illegal orchid trade. Zoo horticulturists grow, propagate, and share orchids with other botanical gardens.

Virginia buttonweed: a tiny, white wildflower, as cute as, well, a button!

DeKalb County (Avondale Estates), Georgia, USA.

8 June 2024.

***************

▶ "Diodia virginiana — commonly known as Virginia buttonweed — is a plant species in the bedstraw family Rubiaceae, native to south-central and southeastern United States (and Mexico, Nicaragua, and Cuba). It can be found in swamps, wet meadows, marshes, coastal prairies, and in the mud along streams and ponds.

Virginia buttonweed is a branching, sprawling plant with small white star-shaped flowers (⅕ inch or 5 mm) of 4 petals apiece, that blooms in summer and fall. The leaves are often mottled because of a virus that attacks the foliage. The plant has thick roots by which it can spread vegetatively, thus it often shows up as a weed in lawns and other disturbed areas."

Photographer's note:

It's a closeup. The tiny flower appears much larger in this image than it did in 'real' life. Just don't call it a weed!

Not sure of species for this little jumping spider. She was around 7 mm body length.

She may be tiny, but she is mighty. And with her 8 eyes and almost 360 degrees of vision, a formidable huntress.

A Sparrow. A tiny look with her tiny eyes

I picked this up at the shore of Lake Michigan quite a few years ago. I have my lake glass collection in a jar and while looking for something 'Macro' to practice with, I thought of it.

I used glass from a picture frame to set it on and lit it slightly from underneath and to the side.

It took several shots and tries to find one I liked.

This is smaller than a pencil eraser.

:)

I was happy with it.

Found this tiny and delicate mushroom by the pond. I like to look for small mushrooms like this, you can easily miss them!

Tiny Green Fly Macro

Me and this Fuzzy Jumping Spider are in a Stair Down.

I was in process of taking pictures of a patch of eggs I found must have been over a thousand of them on a iris leaf, each egg about .5 mm across so tiny, I let them sit for awhile then went back to try some more egg pictures and they had hatched!

7:1 on m43, 200 f4 Micro with 28 mm ais reversed on lens, field of view 2.7 mm across.

Not the greatest picture but they were moving and they are small, look at the eggs, .5 mm across so that makes the worms just over a mm long.

One from the summer...

Be well and thank you!
