I posted another frame of this scene in color a few weeks ago, but after studying it some more I decided that it might look good as a B&W. I think it works. :-)

It's been a while since I made a book necklace. This came about whilst daydreaming on a windy afternoon. I was looking out the window from my work area and realized how much building have been done around my condo since I moved here 12 years ago. We were one of the first families to live in this new township. At that time I wasn't even married. I remember being able to watch the sunset from my balcony each evening. Although I can still see the sunset, but much has changed with the view. It used to be a wide open space of never ending grassland. Now it's been replaced by more condos, shoplots and houses. I understand that this is inevitable when you live in the city, but I still felt just a little saddened by the sight before me. Time changes much, and I yearned for the return of that quiet simplicity of times passed.
This mixed media book necklace combines much of the elements that remind me of times gone by. An old barrel key adorns the simple handmade miniature book. By the side of the key, just visible, is a copper-wire lace over some blue and white plaid fabric. An oval tag displays a print of an old letter with burnt edges. Picasso jasper beads complete the whole rustic, time-worn look of the piece. Other elements include some stained lace, antique brass-toned findings and chain, and brass wires augmented by fire.
* the necklace is 28 inches in circumference, plus 2 inch at focal bead – no clasp
* the book measures approx. 1.5 (W) x 2 (H) x 0.75 (T) inches and has 154 writable pages. Pages are coffee stained.

Sometimes you just have to be on time...This mother and her child were just a little bit to late for the Chinese lantern parade with "Sinterklaas" and "Zwarte Piet". They are waiting for everybody to come back at this point.

I am thinking of them like a wrestling double-act. If anybody could take on the UBU/Tusk Juggernaut, it's this pair. That Doge is a menace.
Equal opposing madnesses, even, though I know which side I would be on, or rather am on, having yet to affect sublime indifference.
So here they are, the oiled-up marathoners, Spartans 'R' Us, assuming the 'Ready Position', even, with the lead firmly placed in their revolving pencils (there's an image).
Rest assured, both are wearing loincloths over (not backless) athletic pouches (Invisible details), and no jiggery pokery is suggested (none at all, at all, to be sure).

Did a time lapse of me shaving this evening. Taken over the course of 7 minutes at 31mm, f/8, 1/13s. I had my TI-83 intervalometer set to roughly 1 second. Final video is at 12fps.

If it weren't for the modern Mercedes to the left this could very well have been a scene from the 1950's!
In the background, a 1959 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud, the prime mover of the top brass, whilst in the foreground a humble runabout for the working man, a 1958 Morris Minor.
Interesting to note that back in 1959 the cost of one Rolls Royce Silver Cloud would have been the equivalent of 10 Morris Minors! An interesting coincidence :)

Four images from a portfolio investigation into the nature of time around a single location over the course of a day.
We stopped in a road side tea stall for tea. After some time, one of the nearby shopkeeper ordered for a cup of tea, and then went outside leaving his tea in his shop. This is when I took this shot :)
নাটোর বনপাড়া বাইপাসে আমরা একটা চায়ের দোকানে থেমেছিলাম চা খাওয়ার জন্য। প্রচন্ড ঠান্ডায় সেই অতি অখাদ্য চাও মনে হয়েছিল অমৃতের মত। পাশের এক পান দোকানদার চা খেতে খেতে সেটা রেখে সামনে গিয়েছিল কে যেন আনতে, আর আমি চান্স পেয়ে এই ছবিটা তুলে নিলাম :)
