The Sakura blossoms pleasure us with a wonderful morning greeting. I sat in awe watching the early morning blossoms lit with the warm light of the sunrise. Breath taking...

Early morning (6:00am) shot of the tidal pool, about 15 minutes drive from our daughters place where we are staying. I thought I'd take the shot just before my early morning swim. The shadow is from the floodlights along the front of the pool.

This is the first posting on flickr for more than 12 months (no real reason why, just the way it is). Hope you like.

I am still wading through the large backlog of exposures from last Summer's unique 3 days on the foreshore.

DOT Art partnered with DOT Pedestrian Projects Group (PPG) to present an asphalt ground mural titled, “Tidal Bay” by artist duo Combo Colab, within the slip lane closure at the intersection of Beach Channel Drive and Far Rockaway Boulevard, outside of the Beach Channel Senior Apartments in Queens. Inspired by its surroundings, the mural is a visual combination of layers that represent the land, the ocean and the air. “Tidal Bay” illustrates the flow and patterns of the bay contours, waves, and flocks of birds that might surround us during a walk along the bay.

NYC DOT Pedestrian Projects Group permanently closed this slip lane to cars as part of an initiative to enhance pedestrian safety. DOT Art aims to highlight the physical transformation of this infrastructure by inviting artists to envision these pedestrianized surfaces as canvases for art.

Our Daily Challenge ... water

The lake near where we live is tidal and fills up through a small gap from the river. When the tide changes, it causes a strong rush of water either in or out. This was taken from the bridge as the water rushed into the lake
