This is a photo of a small tidal pool with a rock in the center of it at False Harbour. I framed the image so that the reflected sun ceates an halation around the rock.
Tidal Mill, Carew.
History does not tell exactly how long a mill has existed at Carew however there is documented evidence that suggests that a Mill was in existence at the site from as early as 1542.
For the sum of ten sovereigns per annum according to records the mill was leased to John Bartlett in 1558.
During the intervening years the mill was rebuilt and the current mill most likely dates from the early 19th century and it contains two Mill wheels one of which is dated 1801.
This timeframe would coincide with the late 18th century revival of the agricultural industry which saw the Mill being used on a continual basis.
Perhaps it was in reference to the French burr stones which accounts for the Mill being referred to as the ‘French Mill’.
The Mill was used continually until 1937 when it ceased operations and as a result it lay dormant until the early 1970’s.
A complete renovation of the Mill was undertaken and was completed in 1972 by the Carew Estate which was aided by funds from the Historical Buildings Council of Wales.

While out shooting the sunset on Anna Maria Island back in October, I noticed this golden hour reflection of a beach house and an Australian Pine tree in a tidal pool.

Thanks to the weather forecast, i went to the rocks last sunday and made a few shots of the tidal wave. It´s amazing how much energy you get from the sea. I had a great time.
It was abstract even before I started messing with it. Now post-processed to the max. Happy Sliders Sunday!
An afternoon spent chasing the light and the tide
I started off in Whitburn as I really wanted some more shots of the arches sadly I timed the tide wrong so it would of been suicide to try and get where I wanted to be.
I then thought I haven't got any shots of Charley's Garden with a high tide so I dashed over there and it was too high :-( so I ended up following the light down to St Mary's for sunset. I cant stay away from this place at the moment its such a great location with so many shots to be had.

lots of people wrongly call tsunamis "tidal waves" except, of course, they aren't caused by the tides at all.
this one is the real deal.
I was driving up the seward highway with my brother in late september when we happened to see the wave (aka: bore tide) heading our way.
the thing was moving so fast that by the time I found a roadside turn-off, it had almost passed us by.
Here's what I did manage to capture of it.
