Graduate student Krista Garner identifies tick species collected around Arkansas. A citizen science project led by Division of Agriculture entomologists Ashley Dowling and Kelly Loftin resulted in an interactive map that shows the distribution of tick species around Arkansas and the tick-borne disease pathogens identified in each location. Ticks are one hell of a pest. During my weekend stay at the Stockholm Archipelago, I got more than 70-80 ticks :((

This photo gave me a good laugh....two tick pickers on this rhino's back and a nice cobweb for effect.

Coming from the Jackson Airport once again I was blessed to find the Big Horn Sheep on the back side of the Elk Refuge. Here are a few of the not typical profile shots that show a bit of behavior. I really appreciate your visits and comments! ~ ~ ~ Worth a click - large on Black ~ ~ ~

One night last week I headed off to Scott, looking for something to take pictures of in the collection of old buildings out there. I also thought I might try to find a view of the sunset through the swampy areas out there, if I could.

This was taken behind the Plantation Agriculture Museum, and Scott is located about 10 miles or so east of North Little Rock, Arkansas.

We found this tick today while in the process of getting ready to pull a different one off Violet. There seems to be a lot of them right now. A fall thing, perhaps? Whatever it is, I don't like it!

It does give me a shudder. Only these ticks and House spiders do that to me. Everything else is fine and lovely! It just looks kind of evil!

This self-diagnosis tick test creates the opportunity to test if the tick bite contains the Borreliose bacteria. This bacteria causes the serious infectious Lyme disease, which is vastly becoming one of the major problems in Europe.

Ugh. It's rainy and socked in today. The wet does make these spray painted marks on sidewalk pop a bit though.
