Found a tick the size of a dime on my back porch. I thought he would make a good photo subject.

Right before we took down all the christmas-thingies I noticed this picture hanging on my kitchen wall and went running for my tripod.

Fun fact: Adding 100 % saturation to this picture did nothing to it.

A homage to those who can do these shots a lot better than I can!

13/365 And todays adventure brought to you by the letter T! Baileys vet appt yesterday went well, she just has an eye infection, they gave us eye drops and probiotics. Today I discovered this tick. I had to make my friend come over and take it out I was so skeeved, then a bath came after that....Poor little girl keeps running from me now! Happy Friday the 13 th lol

Toby was cast as the tick tock croc in PACK's production of Peter Pan and I was asked to make the costume, which was so much fun. The props and costumes were meant to look like they were taken out of the kids' imaginations, so I wanted the croc to look like something they could have made. It also needed to be easy to see and easy to get into/out of. (Toby was also a memeber of the Indian tribe, so he had 2 quick changes. His base costume was brown for that, I wanted it to work for this.)

I made the base out of cardboard boxes, overlapped and stacked to hold their own weight when uptight. I wanted them to read as cardboard, but some of the boxes were printed so I covered everything in brown corrugated paper. I lined the inside of the mouth with black posterboard and added teeth. The eyes are painted styrofoam balls and I attached the tail sections with plastic shower curtain rings so they would move when he walked. I lightly spray painted his belly yellow and his back green for some contrast. I also added foam to the insdie top for Toby's head to sit in so it would be comfortable to wear. He came out to "Crocodile Rock" and was a hit! He could easily be seen and was a very funny moment.

Ewwwwww first of all let me express my absolute hatred for ticks. They are naaaasty...

Secondly...My Lens is broken...I'm working with a cracked glass, so shhh...I know the quality is a little funky from the massive cropping...

Third...this image is not to be used or duplicated without permisson. :D

These are probably the least harmful of the ticks in Northern Virginia. They like tall grasses which they instinctualy climb. They sense hosts by detecting CO2 with chemo-receptors located in their pedi-palps called a Haller's organ.

a "little" Tick i found crawling on the floor.. Scary!

Took a tick off of me about a week ago... Hasn't gotten any better (in fact, worse), but I can't get in to see the doctor until July 3rd.

Sorry, Henry. Staring at the clock will not make Breakfast happen any faster.
