I just wanted to thank everyone for their concern about Clint. He is this skinny due to a horrible thyroid condition. He is being treated for it and he does get monitored medically every day. He is basically in "hospice" with us and we will care and love him until the end of his life here on earth. He was returned to us (he's about 16 or 17) and quite frankly, not looked after medically. It seems he also has an old injury to his rear leg that wasn't taken care of. We see that alot in the shelter biz, unfortunately.

As most of you know, I volunteer in a Special Needs Room of the Helen O. Krause Animal Foundaiton. To volunteer in these special needs rooms is to know that you may only have a short time with each cat. It's not for everyone, but for me, I feel like I have to make sure each unwanted cat that comes to us, even if it's in their final stages of life, knows that their life is of value and that someone cares for them. And yes, sometimes, these cats get adopted! (Teddy, Meatball, etc.) And you guys know, by looking at my photos, that there is a LOT of joy in this room.
(don't worry, I also volunteer in the kitten room, the surrender room and the regular adoption rooms, yeah, I get around)

after zoe lost half her body weight, we found out she has a bad thyroid, so now she is getting two pills thrown down her mouth a day...by me. not not not an easy job!!!

July 31, 2009 Got my hot little hands on some new meds. I knew I wasn't crazy, my prescription was way off. I cried when my dr confirmed that, it was just such a relief. I start the new meds tomorrow. Feeling more optimistic than I have in a while...
They use the butterfly for thyroid symbol and been diagnosed with Hashimoto Thyroiditis- I have to let it go...there's no cure but I'm determined to get rid of the symptoms this year...deep breath and let it go..
Looking good. (!) I can't believe there are only 3 visible elastic bands, felt like A LOT more!! Can tell I am going to struggle working out where my weeks begin and end once we are out of January.. Self portrait Sundays are not quite working out..
