I didn't do BAM last week so I will hopefully have two this week. I have had a problem for at least 6 months which I have neglected and kept thinking it would heal itself. It has NOT and in fact got worse so I finally broke down today and went to see a doctor. It was embarrassing, it was hard, I actually cried prior to going but once I did of course I'm glad. There are two possible things it can be, I was given two things to fix the problem and I'm hoping to be healed very soon. On my way, here I am in the elevador with my cures in the bag. I was urged and encouraged by some sweet friends and family to take care of myself and I really, really need to take better care of myself. I also took my blood test to get back on thyroid pills, I stopped cold turkey and that wasn't very smart either.

KYSTE DU TRACTUS THYREOGLOSSE
Définition:
Reliquats du tractus thyréoglosse (descente de la thyroïde), 50% avant à l'age de 10 ans, 65% avant 20 ans
Étiologie:
Absence de fermeture du canal thyréoglosse au moment de la descente de la thyroïde dans la 4ème semaine de la vie fœtale
Signes cliniques :
masse cervicale médiane, rénitente, élastique, sous ou en avant de l'os hyoïde, mobile à la déglutition , taille variable, sensation de masse , parfois fistule cutanée. le diagnostique est fait par interrogatoire, examen clinique, imagerie .
Diagnostic différentiel :
1. Thyroïde ectopique
2. Kyste dermoïde
3. Tumeur thyroïdienne
4. Adénopathie inflammatoire ou maligne
Examens complémentaires :
1. Biopsie du kyste : étude anatomie pathologique le kyste entouré d'un épithélium stratifié ou pseudo-stratifié avec des cellules ciliées. Présence de tissu thyroïdien dans 10 à 45% des kystes
2. Échographie cervicale
3. Scintigraphie thyroïdienne pour éliminer une ectopie
Traitement : Hospitalisation de courte durée d'environ 3 jours, ablation des fils au 8ème jour.
1. Seule la chirurgie est curatrice: la résection emporte le kyste, le corps de l'os hyoïde et le trajet fistuleux jusqu'à la base de langue (excision triangulaire).
2. Si le kyste est surinfecté, un traitement médical (antibiotiques, anti-inflammatoires) est d'abord institué. En cas de collection, un drainage est possible.
3. Antibiotiques si surinfection, puis chirurgie
Complications:
1. Surinfection
2. Fistulisation à la peau
3. Dégénérescence maligne: exceptionnelle

The thyroid gland produces a hormone that helps in fetal development. The baby is unable to produce its thyroid hormone and is dependent on its mother. In addition, hormones are responsible for metabolism in the mother's body. Excessive production of these amounts of hormones is called hyperthyroidism and insufficient production is called hypothyroidism. Both conditions can affect your pregnancy
Causes anovulation
Anovulation can be an irregular menstrual cycle or no period, irregular hormone levels cause anovulation.
Leads to miscarriage
Women with low thyroid hormone levels may experience a miscarriage or premature labor. Hypothyroidism makes your menstrual cycle and progesterone levels difficult. This does not allow the egg to attach to the uterus and thus, even if it is included, the mother is unable to provide the fetus with adequate thyroid hormone, resulting in pregnancy loss.
Hyperthyroidism
Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) or Graves' disease will cause irregular periods in women and men, hyperthyroidism causes low sperm count.
Prolactin level affects infertility
High prolactin levels in the blood in women can prevent ovulation from forming the hormone estrogen. Low estrogen can cause irregular periods or prevent periods altogether, low prolactin levels in men can cause erectile dysfunction and low sex drive.

This is David Isaiah Lambert. He is 13 years old. He has MEN2b (multiple endocrine neoplaysia) and MTC (medullary thyroid cancer) and Megacolon. He suffered many years before diagnosis. He was a failure to thrive infant with severe constipation. He also had RSV twice as an infant. He developed 8 teeth before he was 8 months old, they were all removed by the time he was 3. The rest of them were crowned. He just could not absorb vitamins and minerals. He was tested for Celiac, Cystic Fibrosis, Hirschprungs and many other things. He loves to play baseball, he is actually a pretty good pitcher. As he got older he just got weaker and weaker. I believe with alot of love and support he will play again.
He was diagnosed right before his 13th birthday June 2012. One month later he had his thyroid and the cancer removed.. Had his disease been recognized sooner he may have never developed the cancer. We are now trying to get back to some type of normal.. whatever that is. I dont know if he has ever had a day where he really felt good. I am thankful for MDA Houston and his endocrinologists Dr. Khateeb and Dr. Waguespack. . Many thanks to all who recognize and support rare diseases. I am praying all will be cured.

I went to the doctor today. Turns out that my thyroid may be causing a lot more things to go wrong, or there could be other things wrong with me. I gave my blood to be tested. Go back on Wed. next week to see what the test results are. Isn't it enough it makes me fat, skin dry/itchy, hair fall out, and my neck always swollen? It is so not fair.

A 23 yo female presented with palpitation.
Palpitation for 3 days and fever (reaching 39C at home). Weight loss of 24kg (90 to 66) and fatigue in the past three months.
ROS: hair loss, heat intolerance, tremor, inability to close her eyes properly, irritability and anxiety.
PMH and medications: ??
PSH: had urgent C-section 5 months ago at 6 months (neonatal death).
Allergies: none.
Family history: her sister got hypothyroidism, and her mother has diabetes.
Social history: she is a housewife, married since 6 years with 2 children.
Vital Signs:
T: 37 C
HR: 140, strong and regular.
RR: 18
BP: 154/75
O2 saturation: 97% in room air.
She was able to speak full sentences, not sweating or gasping for air. Cooperative and alert to place, time and person.
Lungs are clear to auscultation.
Pulse is present and strong, regular.
Cardiovascular exam: Clear.
Thyroid exam:
Skin: warm, moist and smooth.
Hands: sweaty, no clubbing, no onycholysis, there is a tremor.
Eyes: widening of the palpebral fissures, positive lid lag.
Neck: swelling in the midline (Goiter), moving with swallowing water, bruit present.
Lower leg: no pretibial myxoedema, intact ankle reflexes.
