Description: The two photographs that make up this Vertorama were taken a few minutes after sunset… just as the clouds started to turn pink.

Although I was hoping to capture some of the lightning strikes that I could see in the distance… the storm was moving rapidly towards me… and I was standing tall in the middle of nowhere… a perfect lightning conductor!!! So I quickly grabbed these shots… before climbing back into the safety of my own personal Faraday Cage (my car)!

On March 31, 2023 we had our first wicked thunderstorm of the year. At first it was just gray and gloomy outside with a bit of rain coming down, also it was getting windy. The first set of my photo images I was able to take outside as the weather was not severe yet. The sky was looking gray and ominous! I took these in my backyard and to the left of my house as you step out the backdoor. See for yourself as I go through the night! Description: Here is another Vertorama… taken at sunset on a recent trip to the Little Karoo.

Note: I am currently involved with several new (and very exciting) photographic-related projects, and have unfortunately not had too much free time to shoot and/or process any new images. I’m also struggling to find time to visit your streams and to view all your latest photographs, but I promise that I will catch up later… as soon as I get a chance!

Two projects that I am currently involved with are... You2Canvas and Postcard from Paul.

I was sitting waiting for the severe thunderstorm to occur but all we got was rain and thunder. The weather this year has been all over the place. Winter seemed to never end and then the rain came and there was threats of flooding. We haven't had the heat waves we are used too.

Massive, swirling storm clouds dominate the sky over a rural landscape, with a road and power lines leading into the distance. Fields of green and yellow frame the scene, adding contrast to the dark, ominous clouds overhead.

My first time visiting the city, and it lived up to all the praise. This was captured from Willis tower during a raging thunderstorm.

Thunderstorm, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia, Jan. 2016

Not since 1 Jun 26 has a thunderstorm moved through Cheyenne, WY. However, a late day severe thunderstorms formed along a 100 mile line from northern Colorado to east central Wyoming. This storm moved quickly and dropped only 0.17 inch of rain. Total for June is now only 0.34 inch.

This short time lapse clip was taken with my Mission 1 Pro GoPro from my backyard over an 18 minute period. You can watch me on my hill snapping a few shots before I was forced down due to approaching lightning and heavy rain. The next time lapse was from my REOLINK Security camera in the front of my house.

Thunderstorms erupt west southwest of Darwin Thursday evening/Friday morning.

When we arrived at the place with my friend Nick, still was raining. We thought that it was a missed day and we stayed in the car watching the amazing sky. Fortunately 20 minutes before the sunset the rain stopped and we were able to get out and take some shots!!

This image captures the spectacular light show produced by a thunderstorm in the Top End. Many dense, towering vertical clouds rise and burst while lightning flashes illuminate the dramatic scene. Look closely at the bottom right corner; you can see small lightning branches and rainfalls.
