As night falls, it's still in the 90's and thunderstorms float high over the Oklahoma panhandle near the town of Freedom
I couldn't resist the first real thunderstorm in my area. I thought I would try something different and that was to drive into the storm to catch lightning strikes. Normally I would try to stay outside the rain cell and get the strikes from a distance. This image was caught as I was heading across a bridge in West Point, Va. heading towards Williamsburg, Va.. The camera is mounted on my dash with a lightning trigger attached.

Severe thunderstorms with large hail and possible damaging wind gusts approach Brisbane from the west.

I have always enjoyed photographing a beautiful Cloudscape, like the kind you get on a hot Summer day ad Thunderstorms brew in the sky above. Add to this a lower afternoon sun angle any you get the bonus of Crepuscular rays as the sun streams through gaps in the clouds. Here are a few photos of such a day in my corner of Southeast Ohio in mid July 2025
This picture was taken on August 1st, 2006, in Montérégie, Québec, during a severe thunderstorm.
That day was extremely hot and humid!
You can actually see streaks of rain and the prismatic shine of raindrops in this image (in the largest version of the pano, that is, which I can't put here for stealing reasons) but what a fantastic day. :)
