Powerful Thunderstorm

The missions were flown under varying weather conditions. Strong winds, thunderstorms and low-hanging clouds in the low-flying areas sometimes resulted in challenging assignments.

Supercell Thunderstorm(s) as viewed from 41,000 feet above Colorado June 4 2015. Our plane had to change course in order to avoid the storm. These supercell thunderstorms produced tornados in Simla Colorado.

Thunderstorms were forming on a diagonal line from the south of me and moving to the northeast, Just as I was going to bed I noticed this one flashing to the east. I was pleased with what came out of the camera with little modification. the clear skies directly overhead add to the interest of this. Enjoy

We had some serious thunderstorms this morning, which led to this shot. The fog was just beginning to burn off and the clouds were still blocking most of the sun. Eleven shot exposure (-5….0….+5) @ 1 EV increments.

- A slight Brilliance & Warmth filter applied in Nik Color Efex Pro.

Thunderstorms can appear very pretty when they are 10 to 20 miles out in the Atlantic Ocean. This thundersorm is probably 20 miles or so out in the Atlantic Ocean. The beach is Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA

Thunderstorm on the horizon of the New Mexican plains

There was a line of thunderstorms running from Illinois through Texas on Friday, 5/2/08 when I was heading home to Chicago. Our little American Eagle was elegantly dodging the storms as she flew from from Shreveport, Louisiana to DFW (Dallas) where I connected after a long delay to Chicago. Got home about 2am.
