For this picture I went up to a near hill with my backpack and umbrella while lightnings and rain were still near.
I hoped to take lightning pictures after the thunderstorm gone by. I was careful enough to wait for a free sky above it before I went up.
Because of too much evening daylight I was not able to make long exposures, so I tried some hundred pictures with exposure of only half a second.
When I hit a lightning, I made a row of different exposures for HDRI immediately after that for combining them.
It took over an hour to have the luck of hitting this, but I think it was worth the effort. The Thunderstorm is over Essen, neighbour of my town Gelsenkirchen.
A passing electrical storm over Beauly in the highlands of Scotland taken yesterday. The air was fizzing, If I had hair it would have been standing on end!
Small but mighty little storm cell. It ran along just south of our property. I could actually hear it crashing hail and rain as it swept by! Taken with my cell phone as I am too lazy to stitch panos together.

summer thunderstorms were one of my favorite things about living in boston when i was younger. it doesn't happen much on the west coast so i had to document... :)
this is conor's birthday umbrella. if madeline were still around, she would be sitting under it meowing for company. she loved the rain...and once disappeared during a summer thunderstorm in boston! (she was one years old and very adventurous)
This small late afternoon storm put on a good show as individual cells added to its longevity. Crepuscular rays are seen moving from left to right.

This past Saturday 14 May 2022 was a day of passing thunderstorms Near my home in Southeastern Ohio. as sunset approached the low sun gave a warm tone to the magnificent mountains of clouds slowly drifting across the sky
Knowing that there would be thunderstorms up in the northern parts of California, my girlfriend and I decided to head up towards the Willows area to where a bunch of isolated storms began to fire up along a portion of I-5. After witnessing a downdraft of a storm near Williams, a new cell started to go absolutely crazy over Yuba City. Upon arrival, bolts of cg lightning started popping out every 10-30 seconds. Quickly jumping out of my car and watching this storm reach its peak. The only few bolts I got were not very vibrant and not photogenic unfortunately, but definitely fun to see this kind of weather in June.
In true Detroit fashion, the streetlight on the left is the only functioning one on the block, and its working is a new development.

There's nothing like a good old fashioned midwestern summer thunderstorm... especially dramatic from above!
Antarctica is Earth's southernmost continent, containing the geographic South Pole. It is situated in the Antarctic region of the Southern Hemisphere, almost entirely south of the Antarctic Circle, and is surrounded by the Southern Ocean. At 5.4 million sq miles, it is the fifth-largest continent in area after Asia, Africa, North America, and South America. For comparison, Antarctica is nearly twice the size of Australia. About 98% of Antarctica is covered by ice that averages at least 1 mile in thickness.
I was lucky this time, as it was coming in from the southeast. But still over 150 shots with only a handful capturing a lighting.
