Way back in 2007, I bought my first DSLR, my Nikon D80 that was only replaced this year because it had finally given up on me.
Back in 2007 I knew nothing about photography, I had bought this rather expensive camera and was using it as a point and shoot.
It actually took a few years for me to dive deeper into photography and take an interest in the technical side of things rather than just composition.
So when I bought my Nikon D80 I hadn't a clue and looking back on my photos from my trip to Walt Disney World in September of 2007 it's completely obvious just how clueless I was.
So in honour of the things I didn't know then, the things I know now, and the things I still haven't figured out; I'm posting one of my earliest (digital) attempts at something past a snapshot.
Wishing everyone a good day!

A portrait taken during my 2010 365 self portrait project. I've reprocessed it and given it a different crop from what I'd originally used and have ended up liking it a lot more.
Looking back at old portraits, I realize that in the past three years I really haven't dedicated much time to developing the craft and really need to discipline myself to do so. I won't improve with portrait photography if I don't keep practicing and learning.

For Throwback Thursday. This is my daughter in a ball pool in 1997. In the 1990s, nearly every fast food restaurant had a ball pool or another area for kids to play in. Sadly, these areas are pretty much a thing of the past. The t-shirt my daughter is wearing here came from a McDonald's that our family visited in Oklahoma. In those days, we usually flew up to Illinois to visit my Dad. Then he would drive us across the country to come back to Texas when the vacation was over.
In memory of the passing of Ottis yesterday. A very loved family member of a close personal friend and her family. My prayers, thoughts, and support through this difficult time. You will be missed puppers.
I got the chance to visit Villa D'Este in Tivoli, Italy during a work trip back in 2004. Beautiful place and fountains.
