...and providing the HEP to the train is Maine Eastern FL-9, 489, on M&E's OCS/MX-02. The train is traveling over M&E's Chester Branch back towards Lake Junction. This part of the line was originally built by the DL&W.
Ex-PRR GP9 ADIX 6076 has just left Lake Placid and is on its way to Saranac Lake on a gorgeous afternoon. This section of the Adirondack Scenic Railroad is very much in danger, as the state of New York has tentatively agreed to tear up the tracks in favor of a rail trail.
7DOS Week #45 ~ "On, In or Bodies of Water". Unusual PoV Tuesday. I needed to stand on a rock in the middle of the stream to get this PoV of looking through the entire tunnel to the other side.
52 Weeks: Week ~ INSPIRATION. I have lately joined a local photo meetup group to go to new places for inspiration. This was in Maryland, and did this one in 3-shot HDR to help deal with the lighting. Have been inspired by the 52 weeks group to experiment with HDR.

Ganesh, Ganesha or Ganapati, the elephant headed Hindu god is possibly the most popular of gods in India. He is considered the remover of obstacles, and is prayed to before the start of any enterprise, be it commercial or intellectual.
From the western walls of Rani-ki-Vav (the Queen’s Stepwell), an intricately designed stepwell situated in Patan, Gujarat, India. It is a World Heritage site. Designed as an inverted temple highlighting the sanctity of water, it was built in the 11th century AD.
Commissioned by queen Udayamati in memory of her husband Bhima I, it was built at the height of craftsmens’ ability in stepwell construction and in the Maru-Gurjara architectural style, reflecting mastery of this complex technique and great beauty of detail and proportions.

Venturing through Iceland's highlands along the F208 is a journey into a rugged, and dynamically geological canvas. This remote and sparsely inhabited expanse blankets a substantial portion of the country, showcasing striking volcanic sculptures, glaciers, flowing rivers, and vast stretches of lava fields. Here, infrastructure is minimal, and the formidable terrain restricts passage to unpaved F-roads, typically accessible only during the summer months. Another early morning. Wandered around on the edge of a large wetland for three hours, soaking wet up to my waist. But it was worth it.

It was not often that a person yet living was allowed to visit the realm of dreams, let alone the source itself. The Tree of Dreams had been created at the beginning to govern the ebb and flow of the dreaming. In its leaves it held all possibilities, all combinations of probable and improbable. The heights of delirium and the depths of despair were intertwined in its branches and scattered into the wind to reach their dreamers. Most importantly, the tree was tied to all sentient beings in all the realms of existence. That was the key to finding his mother. He just had to figure out which dream had been created for her and follow the leaf to find her.
The Three Sages who had helped bring him here had neglected to teach him how to commune with the tree, let alone sift through the billions of dreams without going mad in the process. He walked around the tree for hours looking for a way to unlock its secret but found nothing other than the gentle swaying of its colorless branches upon a ghost wind which never touched his skin. Time had no meaning in this place. Hours became days which turned into years. As the decades wore on, he lost himself in a sea of abstract vastness as he watched the ghost wind carry away the leaves into the aether. For the first time since he started this long journey he began to feel despair.
He had once lived under the light, trusting and believing that faith would guide him through life. That belief had been torn asunder with the violent abduction of his mother and he had since scorned the light and relied only on his strength and will to overcome any obstacle. That was all irrelevant now as he felt the last glimpse of hope leave him. He was void of all emotion as he looked up at what he thought was heaven and pleaded for help as he had often done in his childhood. All at once he felt a surge of warmth that lifted up his spirit and filled him with an acute certainty that he would find his mother, and live in peace once again. He turned to the Tree of Dreams and its leaves now burned red with life as he felt dreams come in and out of being. He recalled a fond memory of his mother and was thus drawn to the singular leaf that was connected to her. He reached out and became one with the leaf as it sailed past time and space to reunite them at long last.

Getting stronger, on Thursday they scheduled me the final job interview (already succesfully passed through two) for a really interesting opportunity.

- Switched to LAB mode and applied two curves to improve contrast and tones
- Back to RGB, added a vibrance layer to boost up minor tones
- Used color balance tool to improve colors
- Duplicated the background layer, switched to linear add and applied a gradient mask (foreground only)

- Run Noise Ninja to reduce Noise

A shot looking through the valley at Cwm Maethlon, out for the day with Jon Baxter. Not the best light or weather but better to be outdoors than stuck inside.
An RCO yard job pulls a cut of cars through CP ALLEN before shoving them back into bowl of the hump. A nice sampler of Allentown's yard power is on the consist with a rebuilt SD40E, GP38 Highood, and an Ex N&W SD40-2.
The evening STPP crew runs light through downtown Kettle Falls. The crew will pick up the loads brought south from Waneta that are currently tied down just out north of here, then head south for Chewelah. Kettle Falls, WA, 9/9/2025
