Dakota Minnesota & Eastern westbound heads towards Stockton, MN climbing up out of the Mississippi River valley. On this day, DM&E GP9 1463 leads ex-MILW RD SD40-2 #6338 (ex-MILW 202) and ex-MILW RD SD10 #548. The grade up to Stockton is 1.7%. This is a really beautiful area surrounded by the huge bluffs along the river valley.

The foot tunnel in Norrmalm, Stockholm, is a passageway for pedestrians through the esker Brunkebergsåsen.

I held up a piece of polished agate to the window. The backyard colors came shining through.

Compund eye detail of an adult female Striped Horse Fly (Tabanus lineola) from the Everglades. This large species emerges in the late summer, and can be a real annoyance in and around wetlands. Females deliver a really nasty bite.
