As it has been a bit dull this weekend and I have not got out this weekend. I took the opportunity to go through some old shots and found this from a few months ago that i had missed.
Today I visited the coolest museum in Georgia. It is www.camera-museum.org. This was the scene that welcomed me as soon as I entered. The owner and operator gave me a great tour of the place and stood talking about photographic history for quite a while. I learned a lot, saw a lot, and generally had a wonderful time. When I got home and looked through my captures, it hit me that this image would be perfect for this week's Flickr Friday. So here is my humble contribution to this week's theme of #Nostalgia.

Looking through the operator’s window of a motorcar sitting on the track between the roundhouse and shop at North Fond du Lac’s Shops Yard reveals Soo Line GP38-2 No. 4435 sitting quietly on the turntable in the background in September 1984.

A woman barely visible — just a silhouette, a shadow, a trace of black and the curve of an umbrella — seen through a rain-covered window. The glass becomes a veil, the rain a filter, blurring her presence into something distant and poetic. This is not a portrait of a person, but of a moment. A fleeting vision caught between the world and the glass.
There was a definite theme for large parts of the trip to the LS&I - rain. Lots and lots of rain. I was stood in it for a good long while waiting here for this train, and would end up standing in even more later in the day waiting for more trains. It's a cycle, I suppose.
3 Yard-Hill rounds the curve at Forestville, MP58, as it nears the yard at Marquette. With a ship now scheduled for the next day, things are getting busy as the railroad prepares for it. The rain probably isn't helping matters as the heavy train slinks through the forest, though the worst of the grade is behind them now.

This is a view of my commute to work...and I am every day grateful for the rugged beauty of the part of California I call home. We can all enjoy this paradise forever if we protect it!! Living in California, being a native Californian, I've seen how in just my lifetime this Golden State has been chewed up by a burgeoning population and continuing irresponsible development. (California's population in 1950 was about 11 million, and it is projected to be 65 million in 2050.)
Here are several websites that offer excellent information about renewable energy sources and greening businesses. It has been imperative for some time now that we move as quickly as possible away from our dependence on fossil fuels, but the political will has been lacking. The good news is that this is changing. We are all in this together, and we can all help create a positive future. Information and education are key.
Ordnance Pub (The old gun pit) which fills up the corner of Beresford Square and Woolwich New Road, Woolwich, South East London. The famous old pub has had many names through the years, originally called the Ordnance Arms in 1812 and was rebuilt in 1889-90.
