Giving up control and admitting that I'm powerless over...well, anything, really...is a difficult task. It's counterintuitive. I always feel like I can do something to set things moving the way I want them to move. But not this. And that's a really tough pill to swallow. I'm still struggling to accept that try as I might, this is not something I can control. I have to let go and have faith that the universe is going to take care of the rest.

Three hometown friends hang out by the tracks in Nefisit, Eritrea as the morning rail action creates some commotion. They demanded I take their picture. They don't seem to care if they ever see it. Nobody's on social media. But their good spirit is eternalized in these photographs, like throwing a message in a bottle out into the ocean.
The arrival of the train into town is still a huge deal for people who live by the tracks. The sights and sounds of a working steam locomotive were said to capture the undivided attention of generations around the world, and it's nice to see that still applies.
