of note -- I have 125 heddles on each shaft, but this project only uses 25 heddles on each shaft AND it uses the full width of the loom. So I had to thread every 5th heddle on each shaft to spread the heddles more or less evenly throughout the shaft (sometimes I threaded every 6th or every 3rd, it just depended on what I grabbed).

118 / 365 - thread
(on black)
Today I've had a very productive photo day. As I walked home I decided to force myself to find objects around worth taking pictures of. This resulted in about 50 keepers, most of them macro, because I had a macro lens on. So no strobist stuff today, enjoy some more backlit macro shots with lens flare and bokeh :)
Just felt like experimenting with some black & white today and this was taken at the same time as my 365 from today. There wasn't much colour in the original shot so I thought I'd give this a go.
Shot with one sb600 in a small photoflex softbox camera right and almost level with the table. Light fired via Nikon CLS. Spools are resting on a piece of black acrylic.
Background is s black piece of foamcore about 3-4 feet of the back.
On left a small foamcore reflector was used to provide a small amount of fill.

This striking member of the sundew family is distinctive with its stringy leaves covered with glistening droplets of sticky exudate. Insects trapped in the sticky hairs are digested by plant enzymes. Researchers have found that substantial quantities of protein from the insects end up in the storage roots demonstrating the importance of this source of nutrients. The southern plants are larger than the northern and are considered by some authorities to be the separate species D. tracyi. Thread-leaved sundew is dependent upon Coastal Plains Ponds in their northern range and have become quit rare throughout much of their range.

The big brown and tan ones are Aunt Lydia's in bamboo. They're really soft!
The DMC (round one) is in the Mocha Cream color, which is super nice.
my lovely giveaway winings from Lily's Quilts
I hardly ever watch DVDs (I haven't had TV for about 5 years - too distracting - I don't even have an aerial at this flat, just to avoid temptation - but frankly, I can catch up online if there's someting I really want to watch ... so Aurifil's staying on TV for the mo ...
I made this litte cat out of Aunt Lydia's size 10 shaded yellows crochet thread. He is 5 inches tall. My Daddy gave him the name of Orange Ball Panther.

I'm just trying to *finish* this quilt which I started... uh... more than 10 years ago. you can see the fade out markers faded out really well. I have to hunt down the scalloped template again.
My stitches aren't near as small as they used to be, but my callous is building up on my underneath hand. Looks pretty bad right now.
I adore my little red riding hood cape. I had a beautiful bit of vintage fabric which I used to face the front and line the hood with. I made it in a class at Thread Den.

I started a challenge thread on artfire and the first challenge was to make something that represents what got you started in your medium. www.artfire.com/modules.php?name=forums&op=view_topic... So this necklace is based on the one I saw 5 years ago in a magazine, I used a few different beads, but the colour and style is the same.
