Part of Rae Lakes stopped me with this view. I loved how these water plants created an illusion of threads of hair spreading across the body of water reflecting the backdrop of the pines and Painted Lady and Glen Pass far behind them. The tranquility certainly called for a break and appreciation of what was before my eyes, but I still had to make it to the campground. The rain clouds traveling over the peaks looked quite uninviting.

A tiny piece of ice was on a very fine part of a feather. It is not all that sharp as it was hand held and my hands were freezing in the cold windy weather we are experiencing today.

Thanks for having a peak at my little space here on Flickr.

At dusk, when the sky burns gold, light becomes a weaver. Fragile spider webs and humble ropes shimmer like threads of fire, turning simple bulbs into lanterns of the fading day. A gentle reminder that beauty often rests in the spaces between nature and craft.

Beyond the Brotherhood: The Pre-Raphaelite Legacy

18 Oct 2019 - 1 Feb 2020

Tracing the Pre-Raphaelite thread from its inception into the 21st Century, this exhibition follows the movement’s influence on artistic developments including Realism, Aestheticism, Symbolism and Art Nouveau. Displaying stunning imagery from across the decades, it will demonstrate that Pre-Raphaelitism lives on in contemporary fantasy, book illustration and film as well as inspiring artists today.

The Spider Thread (Il filo del ragno)

(from a lecture by Masao Yokota)

The Buddha was in a lotus-filled garden when he perceived a man named “Kandata” who was squirming in the depths of Hell. He had been a murderer, an arsonist, and thief. A lifetime of these causes had put him in hell. He was in the company of others like him.

The Buddha looked further into Kandata’s life and saw an incident where Kandata came upon a spider. He raised his foot to stomp on it. Suddenly, he reconsidered, thinking, "There is no doubt that this spider is also a living being and it is a shame to take its life for no reason." In the end he spared the spider.

Knowing this, the Buddha took a spider thread and lowered it to into depths of Hell with the intention of saving Kandata.

Kandata reached for the thread and found it strong enough to hold his weight. Using all his strength he began lifting himself from Hell.

After some progress, he looked down and saw hundreds of others behind him climbing on the same spider thread.

He shouted back at them: “Get off! This is mine!” Just then, the thread broke and Kandata fell back into Hell.

Sharp as a needle. Resistant like a thread.

Eros- the first traitor, this demon turned his back on his kin in protest of the slaughter of lesser creatures. Eros may not look it but he is highly skilled in the art of stealth due to his active ability to distort the minds of others making him seem invisible plus his human armor helps to interrupt radar and other signals. Due to his betrayal he was found by the humans hanging on to life by a thread, of all of the Oni Eros has the most mechanical integration which further outcast him from many of his kind.
