The 2 yellow ones are vintage crocheted thread holders approx 3". They were used to hold darning thread and has a felt circle lining the inside lid to hold your needles. I crocheted the red one making it a little bigger to hold tatting threads for taking along with me to crochet on the go.
I have several very complicated and wonderful sewing machines which I love. I even have one that is a Sashiko Machine, that is, a machine that does hand stitching. Therefore, the height of Simplicity for me is a simple needle and thread!

It is not unusual to find dedicated rooms within hospitals, asylums or other sanitary facilities. This time I stumbled upon a textile workshop. Threading machines, spools and fabric were still all over the place and this particular spool stood near the window, bathing in sunlight, as if it was trying to get a glance of the outer world while waiting for its azure prince to come to its rescue.
- Treatment: Pre-treatment in camera raw, curves, some constrast and color layers, color and texture overlays.

It's magical in the woods and I couldn't help myself with this edit. Happy Wednesday beautiful people. Who else is looking forward to the weekend? I'm going to be starting an online print shop. Do you have any particular recommendations on where would be best?
In the last few weeks I have spent so many days and hours immersed in children's portraits and group shots, candid expose shots of life within a classroom, band rehearsals for the school play, musicians playing, children performing and capturing it all for various different people and reasons, that it was nice to take those two lens' off the camera and pop the macro lens on and take simple, unplanned, shots of some threads left over from sewing lying beside me on the table as images downloaded onto the computer.
For me, today, it's nice to just look at something simple, not worry about exactly how in focus - or out of focus - a shot is and whether I've got the hair just right for that chid, or the essence of caterpillars walking across a stage.
Today simple and stark is just what I need.

The toughest part of getting this shot was getting the thread between the two sides of the opening in the needle!
This is simply a threaded water/sewer pipe that is sticking up in a ditch. I probably should have found a way to clean off the dirt but by the time I could have done that, I would have lost the light that attracted me in the first place.
