The third eye (also known as the inner eye) is a mystical and esoteric concept referring in part to the ajna (brow) chakra in certain dharmic spiritual traditions, in particular Hinduism.
I really do not have any idea about this mask/plaque though. I would say that it has African or Polynesian origins in its style but I am unaware of any real significance in the concept of the 'third eye' within those cultures, much less the idea of stitching the actual eyes and mouth shut.

I was sitting on a blanket in the middle of the park, having a lovely picnic with the hubs. I lied down to soak it all in, the weather, the food, the company, looked up, and saw this through the tree. It was weird. I'm not sure what I like about it - the composition, the colors, the light burst.
When I see it, I think of the third eye chakra. This is the element of the mind, electricity and light and it is also symbolised by spirit. "The third eye chakra influences our capacity to see things that are yet to come into being or clairvoyance it is the foundation of our psychic powers."
What do you think when you see it?
I couldn't help myself. It was either this or a cyclops. I like this one better. Cyclops is played out...ofcourse so is the three eyes....but this is better.

On January 12th, 2002, my father (a big sports fan) was offered two courtside tickets to see the Bulls play the Los Angeles Lakers. The tickets were right behind the Bulls bench even with the backboard and we saw all of the players up close including Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neil. It was a close game, but with less than three minutes left in the game, Brad Miller and Shaq got into a fight RIGHT IN FRONT OF US. Shaq completely missed Miller, but I definitely would not be on the receiving end of a roundhouse from him.
