A ceramic hand with a prominant symbol of the third eye (6th chakra) on the palm. The hand is 9-inches tall.

Strobist/technical info:

The scene is a 3-image focus stack composite and was illuminated by two Nikon SB900 and one SB700 speedlights. The SB900's were placed 45° CR/CL, one-foot above and three-feet away from the subject and fired through Neewer 24" x 24" soft boxes. The CR flash was fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄4 power; the CL flash was fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄8 power.

The SB700 was placed behind and to the left of the subject, slightly above and three-feet away. It was fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄16 power through a gridded snoot with a Rogue "Medium Blue Green" gel attached.

The SB900's were triggered by three PocketWizard PlusX triggers; the SB700 was placed in SU-4 mode and triggered by the other flashes.

The shore-lark soars to his topmost flight,

Sings at the height where morning springs,

What though his voice be lost in the light,

The light comes dropping from his wings.

Mount, my soul, and sing at the height

Of thy clear flight in the light and the air,

Heard or unheard in the night in the light

Sing there! Sing there!

The third eye (also known as the inner eye) is a mystical and esoteric concept referring to a speculative invisible eye which provides perception beyond ordinary sight. In certain dharmic spiritual traditions such as Hinduism, the third eye refers to the ajna, or brow, chakra. In Theosophy it is related to the pineal gland.

The cradle of mankind shall perhaps become its demise as well. Ironic? but it makes for one beautiful tragedy...becuase all true tragedies are beautiful.

Photographed under a warming light in the Pūkaha Mt Bruce National Wildlife Centre, near Masterton in New Zealand. While closely resembling a lizard, this reptile is the lone member of the genus Rhynchocephalia. Its Māori name means "peaks on the back". It has another remarkable feature - a third eye on top of its head! This parietal eye appears to be a light sensor, but could also have other perception abilities.

Another collaboration between me and Kaloe. Ink, Watercolor, and Coffee.

Flickr is a community of photographers. . . . .the camera is believed to be the "Third Eye" of a photographer . . . . how can we ignore the perfect engineering of nature. . . . . the one lens that is capable of viewing throughout the tonal range. . . . . a superb macro, or a portrait lens. . . .

My eye isn't beautifull enough to be regarded as beautifull, but it surely is a masterpiece of nature's engineering. . . .

The one picture I find beautiful enough to dedicate to all my flickr friends especially the PPA People, The people at Olympus E-System Commnity and Rob, AKA KULU

This shot was taken by Absar while on campus, as seen in the reflection!

I saw this monkey (don't remember the exact species, put that down in comments if you know) at London Zoo and some onlookers around the enclosure laughing at his antics. From a distance it looked like the monkey was enjoying the attention but a close look makes one feel that this one has really sad eyes.

I love animals but I am not sure if I like them in zoo or not. From one perspective, they are accessible to people who can't afford a safari, well looked after in a zoo and are protected from human greed but on the other hand they are in confined spaces and not in their natural habitat. It's like someone giving you everything in your house but asking you not to leave it.

Sometimes I wonder what they might be thinking looking from the other side of the bars.
