In classic films, when an executive rewards a colleague for their good thinking they might say “Join me for a whiskey in the boardroom!” From now on I’ll acknowledge good creative thinking with this quip; “That’s Whiskey Thinking!

Object permanence? I can't see *that* ever catching on.

In the Design Thinking course, students work in teams to construct ping pong ball roller coasters to learn about teamwork, prototyping, and how to “think with your hands.”

This year’s roller coaster themes included “A Day in the Life at Dartmouth,” “The Story of Harry Potter,” “The Life Journey of a Kernel of Corn,” and many more!

Students in this project-based course are not only engineering majors, but come from all corners of campus and academic backgrounds.

A força de um capoeira

(The power of a capoeira player)

Iê!

Iê!

Oi a força de um capoeira, colega velho,

See, the power of a capoeira player, old fellow,

Ninguém vai poder tirar.

Nobody is going to take away.

Oi a força de um capoeira, colega velho,

See, the power of a capoeira player, old fellow,

Ninguém vai poder tirar.

Nobody is going to take away.

Porque já nasce com ele,

Because a capoeira player is born with it,

A força que Deus lhe dá.

The power that God gives her/him.

O mundo pode dar volta,

The world can turn,

Porque volta o mundo dá,

Because the world does turns,

Não existe uma rasteira,

There is no trip,

Que possa lhe derrubar.

That can make her/him fall.

O guerreiro da Senzala,

The Senzala warrior,

Tem a força no seu cantar.

Has the power in her/his singing.

Tem o jogo de um guri,

Has the agility and the free motion of a child,

Colega velho,

Old fellow,

no toque de um berimbau,

playing a berimbau,

Oxalá nos traz o bem,

Oxalá brings us the Good,

Leva pra longe o mal, camarada.

And take away the Evil, pal.

Holywells Park, Ipswich, Suffok

It's not really my front garden. But I can step out of my front door and in less than two minutes be here, so I think of it as my front garden. This lime avenue leads from Bishops Hill to the site of Cliff House, home of the Cobbold family until the 1930s, when the park was given to the Borough. The house itself was demolished in the 1950s. The cycleway through the park forms the very first part of my daily commute.

Historically, I don't take many photographs in November. By the end of September the days are getting too short for church exploring bike rides, and although there are the odd photo opportunities in October, by the time the clocks go back the main thing I want to do is hibernate. I hate the time of year when autumn becomes winter, not least because the end of the year is the busiest time of the year in my job. All the time I'm really thinking about spring, and I'm waiting.

December will bring some respite, and when we pass the shortest day and the East Anglian skies are clear and crisp and freezing it is time to pack my camera and get on my bike again, if only for a few hours. But not in November.

But it was such a lovely day to day, I had to go for a wander, without straying too far, so I set off along the river.

Designing the swirl... Concept

Sometimes i wish i could shut my mind off, and stop thinking about everything that hurt me, is that possible?

Sometimes i don't know what do to with my life, everyone seems to have clear ideas about it..people studying..have a job..make new friends..travel and leave this fuckin' place..it know they take their way..and you just left behind all alone. Well..i'm happy for them..it's just that i'm not happy for me.

An Indonesian farmer is taking a break from a session of hard work. Interestingly, he's still holding his harvesting sickle. It's not for violence, it's for his life.

Whilst sitting watching the locals enjoy their Sunday afternoon street dance this young lady sat a few metres away. I could not help but notice someone or something had made her very happy. The small grin was a sign of a very happy lady.

Not my image. My thanks to Alain Bachellier for a wonderful Portrait of Elodie. Alain has taken a series of portraits of his colleagues, that are just really good! I feel a bit guilty because there really isn't much to improve here at all...
