I went to Target yesterday and FINALLY got Paper Towns! Yay! And today during school I already read 150 pages of it... wohoo! Tried really hard not to laugh out loud at many things. Eek, real hard. And Melissa picked up my camera from the post office yesterday and took it with her when she picked up from school. The shutter was jammed at first but after love taps it started to work, haha!! Yes, that's how I fix everything. BUT YAY! It works.

Annoying quotes about my camera today,

"Did you get that from Urban Outfitters?"

"It looks like it was made in like the 60's"

NO AND CAUSE IT WAS!

View On Black. She's soo darn photogenic!

Moo cards as a gift from my son led us into a discussion of 16 things. Thank you Sammo371. He knows me so well.

1. My favorite expression with my family is, "We will always remember this!" And no one ever does.

2. I misread labels at the grocery store and never buy the same thing twice although I intend to.

3. My mind is faster than my actions so I frequently drop things.

4. I barely own a TV because I am busy reading 5-6 books at the same time.

5. From May to November I like to kayak every night.

6. I have an Ugly Baby Doll collection as I rescue them from yard sales, flea markets. They live in a circle in a basket and must be appropriately ugly.

7. Once lived in a miller's house at a historic grist mill and will forever remember the tangy, musty aroma that I care NOT to inhale again.

8. Having helped run an ambulance company, I could frequently be found driving to the grocery store in a modified Cadillac/hearse/ambulance. Look out!

9. Clint Eastwood learned to ride at the same stable where I rode - but I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of looking at him when he appeared for a stable party.

As a student nurse in LA, Aurthur Godfrey rode the same elevator. I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of acknowledging him, either.

I wonder why? Maybe I'm just shy.

10. I don't like new things. I refused to use wheels on luggage and refused to own a microwave until 1990.

11. I am a mother of two - a son and a daughter but they won't let me mention them here

= )

12. I like playing marbles, jacks, jump rope, flying kites, riding my bike and playing Parcheesi.

13. During the winter, every day I walk outside and say, "It's not too bad out here!" And it always is.

14. I LOVE office supplies - pens, staples, notebooks, rulers, file folders [drool], 3X5 cards. I use them all when I WRITE!

15. It has been said that I am highly positive and hopeful to a fault - which could be big faults.

16. It takes a great deal and a long time to make me angry - sometimes decades.

17. I am a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and that defines me.

I had read about this chain recently in Inc. magazine, so one of the things I wanted to do while we were on our vacation was to sample their fare. While they've got franchises in 40 states, I've never seen one in my regular travels, and I ain't going out of my way for a hamburger). I figured we were heading into their prime market so there might be a chance. As luck would have it, there was one right next to the hotel we stayed at in Williamsburg.

Frankly, and I know this is heresy to foodies, I was underwhelmed. The fries were OK, but not overwhelming. If you're gonna have greasy fries, I want to see 'em dripping in grease. Although these did come close. Having bottles of malt vinegar at the condiment counter was a step in the right direction. And I think it's hilarious that they show the source of the potatoes on a sign. Like, can anyone really tell? Would you call up the store in the morning, ask for the source of the potatoes and then make your luncheon location decision based on that?

The hamburger was pretty good, but not the greatest. It was juicy, I'll say that. Frankly, what I really liked was the choices of stuff. I selected grilled onions and green peppers. That was a combination I've never had before and it made the hamburger. Now I just have to figure out a way for the local restaurants around here to give me grilled green peppers.

They make a big deal out of the bun, but it just fell apart, so I wasn't impressed. And hand shaped hamburgers? Who cares?

They also make a big deal about cleanliness. Kate said the restroom wasn't particularly clean, and she noticed that the person cleaning up the dining area would put her hands into the garbage can and push the garbage down. Then, using the same gloved hands, she would refill the napkin dispenser and handle all of the other stuff on the condiment area. There is a reason they wear the gloves. Food workers frequently don't get this and it drives me crazy.

OK, all you foodies can scream. But I just wasn't that impressed. It was better than your average burger. And I'd eat there again if I came across one. But I'm not going to make a special effort.

I'd give them 4 out of 5 stars (the extra star is for the grilled green peppers).

This is my first time doing the mosaic.... I messed it up several times. Could not get the names of tags right. So on the side bar are those that have been tagged. If you want, if not ... no problem

Just a piece of plastic from a candy bar (which I picked up and disposed of after I was done taking the pic) that I happened across on my walk yesterday. All the bees in crocus, tidal fog and spring maple buds paled in comparison to the plastic lips in the grass.

Found this pacifier washed up on the beach, next to a piece of parafine. Apparently the dutch coast was polluted with parafine over more than 30 miles because a tanker captain decided to clean his tanks some miles ofshore.

I was tagged by Mysticartgirl like a week ago, and I'm late in doing my 25 things, but here I go...

I can't believe I'm doing this... I'm a painfully shy person and so private. Posting this gives me nerves! LOL

1. I graduated with a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (specializing in music) last spring.

2. I've played the piano since I was 6 yrs old, and stopped playing three months before I was about to get my diploma in Piano Performance with the Royal Conversatory of Music. I just didn't want to do it anymore...

3. I don't know where I'm headed in life... typical of most 23 yrs olds I guess.. haha!

4. I was a total music theory nerd when I was in high school, and I finished all the courses the Royal Conservatory had to offer in music theory before I finished high school

5. Before we got into photography, badminton was our hobby, and Bryan and I used to play 2-3 times a week.

6. I'm living in the U.S. on a visa, because of Bryan's work.

7. I've gained sooooo much weight since moving to the U.S. I'd love to drop 40 lbs and get back into my old clothes

8. My weight has always been up and down, up and down... sooo annoying when it comes to clothes

9. I got into Blythes when my university was on a 3 months strike during my 4th year in school (yes 3 months!!) I had nothing to do and these big headed dolls caught my eye while I was surfing flickr. I think people were trading moo cards and I wondered what these dolls were on the moo cards.

10. I miss my family dog, Kobe, so much! I wish I could've brought him to the States with me. I like to think about him before I drift off to sleep

11. I absolutely adore dogs, and I really wish we can get one, but Bryan's not on the same boat.

12. Omg... only on 12?? My goal is to clean up the entire house this week. Such a daunting prospect...

13. Our flower beds are so over grown with weeds, and I've been trying to manage it by pulling them by hand. We have weed spray, but I'm afraid to use it because all the neighborhood critters hang out in our backyard. If anybody has any advice in managing weeds please let me know! My back will thank you!

14. I miss living in a big city. Toronto is so much more exciting than Seattle.

15. I used to hate eating Chinese food, but now that good Chinese food is hard to come by in Seattle, I miss it so much! (Toronto has a huuuuuuge Chinese population)

16. One of my first "encounters" with nature was during a week long outdoor education field trip in grade 7. I don't think I've ever hiked through the woods, before then. The impact of seeing the beautiful rays of sun coming through the trees had a lasting impact on me.

17. I always begged my parents for a camera when I was young, but ofcourse they said no. Film was expensive.

18. I love to read. I started reading adult fiction at the age of 10

19. I'm a nighthawk (is that even a word?) I love staying up late. That is when I get most of my work done.

20. I spend almost all my time sewing these days.

21. I enjoy doing crafty projects. I get a sense of fulfillment when I'm doing crafts.

22. My husband is a genius (literally) and I'm always 10 steps behind him or more. Being with someone with a gifted mind has its challenges. I don't know what he's talking about half the time, but we're great friends =)

23. I have an intense fear of driving. I have my license and everything... never failed any driving tests, but I just don't like driving at all.

24. I'm obsessed with Lati dolls these days. HELP ME!!!

25. I have hyperextended knees which means my posture is all sorts of wrong! My knees and back always ache and I swear I'm gonna be in a wheelchair when I grow old.

Omg finally! We're done!! That's me in a nutshell, and more than I have ever shared at once on flickr LOL

I tag everybody else who wants to play along.

OMG I just thought of a #26: Nobody in real life calls me Jessi. Everybody calls me Jess. I had to use jessi as my flickr screen name because every variation of jess and bryan was taken already. I just find it funny when people call me jessi online =D

I ran into this dog on the street and I knew I had to take a picture of him/her (I think her owner didn't notice it). I haven't seen a dog this cute for a long time.

i dream of a house where i'd have room to decorate - a dining room where i actually set a table, and not convert into a makeshift office....i don't really want to do the cooking.. ;) but i love all of the table things. beautiful things that suggest the holiday, german glass glitter (an obsession of mine), giant tureens, salt cellars (i collect them), vintage crystal knife rests, and just pretty lil things that make you stare in wonder before the food is even put down.

dreaming of a dining room........ :) what are you dreaming of for xmas?

Last year I made a list of things to accomplish. I completed nearly all of them, and I'm very proud of my progress!

I made a new list of goals for this year. Some of them are new, while others are continuations or re-tooling of last year's goals.

This photo represents a sample of important goals (there are many more than this on my list):

Gym shoe: Work out at least once a week

Stack of books: Read 100 books this year (in 2010 I read 96. so close!)

Photo book: Officially start a business

Yarn, needles, hook: Make a garment

Bottle: Drink more water

Lens: Shoot one photo session per month; work on more creativity with everyday photos

Recipe book (new, courtesy of Holly!): Try a new recipe once a month

Toothpaste: Use my health insurance--dentist twice, new glasses, doctor

Passport: Go new places (Greece in April!!); take a roadtrip

Money: Work on budgeting; keep tracking spending (I've been keeping a spreadsheet for four months now); resume saving (for retirement, emergency fund, honeymoon, future down payment fund)

I didn't miss any days in my 2010 YIP, but I didn't always put in a lot of effort. I will work on that for this year.
