The Full Moon of March is known as the Full Worm Moon because this is the time of year when the climate is favorable for the return of worms.

Looking SW over the Swansea Valley

I just don’t tire of trying to capture the moon. I guess if you are bored with my moon shots you can always ignore them 😊

Moon Photo, 25th February 2021

Taken with Panasonic LUMIX DC-G9 Camera, and LUMIX Leica DG VARIO-ELMAR 100-400mm Lens, Dual OIS enabled. Hand-held. (Cropped)

I spent the night camping under the stars by Beckhead Tarn, between Kirk Fell and Great Gable in the Lake District. You can see the moon shining behind Kirk Fell on the left, and Orion over Lingmell, Broad Crag, and Scafell Pike on the right.

Captured through my patio windows shortly before it clouded over because it was too cold to go outside.

A detailed capture of the moon raising over Mayfield's Valley, taken with my Nikon D850 and paired with my Nikon 200-500 mm lens on the 12th of July 2025, shortly after midnight.

The clear night sky gave me the perfect opportunity to bring out the texture and surface detail without atmospheric interference.

Edited in lightroom to enhance contrast and sharpness while keeping the scene natural and true to how it appeared.

I hope all you are all having a lovely weekend so far😊✨️🙏

📷 Camera: Nikon D850

🔍 Lens: Nikon AF-S 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR Lens

Esos mínutos mágicos, cuando se acaban las últimas luces y llegan las primeras sombras. Mañana será otro día.

2nd November 2017:

When we'd finished dinner this evening we went out into the garden and I noticed that the moon was really clear.

I took a few hand held photos, but as it was so visible I nipped inside to get my tripod.

I know I'd taken my necklace for today, but I'm sure you'll all understand that the moon taken with my Panasonic sort of seemed more interesting. And I had so hoped to get a really decent photo of it with the new camera.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.

The date was JANUARY 31, 2018. It was in the news that there will be a TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE early in the morning that day. It was also dubbed the SUPERMOON! And so, I waited, and waited, and waited. This photo was taken at 5:36AM! NO, I didn't get up early, I stayed awake and WAITED! I must have been crazy!

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

At 80% of Full looking ESE over the Swansea Valley captured from outside my front door .It's bitterly cold out tonight and there' s Snow forecast next week

I captured my first photo of the moon earlier in May - and fittingly, it was a full moon. It was also the first time using my Nikon 200-500 mm lens. As the moon rose into a clear sky, I locked focus and took some shots. I was quite surprised at how small the moon appears, even under 500 mm, and this photo has been heavily cropped. I hope to capture and experiment with many more moon photos in the future. I took this photo in my garden.

Many thanks for your faves and kind comments. I hope you all have a lovely week 😊✨️🙏

46.7% of full and a welcome return to our skies after Storm Barra.

Perhaps I should have tried earlier taken @22.40 hrs

Went out this morning and saw this Red-shouldered Hawk with the moon in the background. The moon was actually too high to include in the frame, so I took a shot of each of the 2 subjects and with a little processing, the 2 shots came together. I had to blur the moon a bit for realism.

The Moon will guide you through the night with her brightness, but she will always dwell in the darkness, in order to be seen.
