I will be out most of today, but will catch up with everybody later this evening and tomorrow. I hate missing all of the great new photos...

Shot with my SX 70 loaded with Polaroid Monochrome 600 film using an ND Filter.

My awesome friend Andrea (www.flickr.com/photos/girlhula/) and I did a mini-photo project together to seek beauty in the world and to create. We gave each other themes, and my 2 were 1. Curves & 2. Shadows. Here is my interpretation.

For Macro Mondays Theme: Tools and Utensils

Circular Saw blade

The two holes reminded me of planets in full eclipse - I faded the colour on saw blade on the left because it is the reality and the colour is the fantasy (like how the Wizard of Oz started in B&W).

I made these for Nazra who asked me to try and make little models of the cameras she currently owns which includes Nikon D700, D300, Lomo's Supersampler and Fisheye. The green phone is her cellphone (I love the color) and also some extra lense and speedlight.

Had fun making theme but I SERIOUSLY need to work on making small models like these..phew! :)

The theme for this week is childhood memories, and considering I spent much of my childhood in one of the most rainy regions of the US, I thought a rainy picture would be appropriate.

Macro Monday's and the theme of "Broken".

A little while ago my wife went to get a saucepan from a cupboard in the kitchen and a Pyrex dish slipped out and bounced into the side of our oven door,

The dish survived but it caught the oven door right on the side of the glass which being safety glass proceeded to shatter from left to right. It was just a sheer fluke and anywhere else the door may also have survived the encounter.

A few weeks later the new oven door parts arrived which I managed to install and this old one has been waiting for me to take it down to the refuse site but until now I hadn't got around to it. Therefore I decided to make one final use of it before it finally goes.

Shown in the photo is the right hand side of the door with glass still attached (Top half of photo) and a few bits of glass and a reflection (Bottom half).

Only the French dressing missing. The theme of the week " Low Key", thank you for your comments and faves, HMM!

Subject

A mostly full but far from new bottle of Pendleton 1910 Canadian Rye stands next to a seemingly ready glass. Actually this Canadian stuff is too sweet for me and is only consumed by visitors who don't like to drink my Scotch.

Lens

SMC Pentax-F 1:1.7 50mm in manual mode.

Lighting

This scene is entirely backlit.

The room was almost entirely dark and the exposure lasted only one 6000th of a second. The light comes from a Pentax AF540FGZ behind and to our left of the bottle. It's illuminating a portable whiteboard.

The light is wired to the camera using my DIY RJ45 PTTL cable extender.

Yesterday, I was practising a "correct" retouching as much as I could on this portrait and here is the result. I know it doesn't resemble much my work. I decided to publish it anyway.

Theme: Disable

I had surgery on my ACL two months ago. Stuck in my mother's basement for two weeks. Experiencing life without the ability to be mobile was terrible. There were limitations on my ability to do basic things, such as using the washroom. The first couple days after my surgery, I could not sit down on the toilet.

Something you barely think about every day was causing me insane pain. I was struggling with things I usually encounter on a normal day and never think about on a regular basis . My experience has brought to my attention the struggles people with disabilities have every day. I learned from my short experience that society is not designed to accommodate people with physical impairments.

During my rehabilitation, I had to go to my university campus. Around campus, you can see automatic door openers everywhere. When I needed to use those automatic door opener, I realized the poorly designed locations for those buttons. For a few weeks, I experienced life without my legs properly functioning, and it was mentally exhausting to cope with my limitations.

After this experience, I want to advocate for people with physical disabilities rights to have built to accommodated their needs. I could start by complaining to my university about the poorly designed buttons. I acknowledge I cannot change every building, but at least I can do something.

As for this image. It was photographed a month after my surgery. I just started to be able to walk with a limp. I was going to take a picture with my boyfriend which was going to be inspired by the movie Signs. But it ended up looking like a cheesy family picture. This image is an outtake. Something I did not planned on making. I don't really like this picture but it's a stamp of my experience.
