Macro Mondays theme: Red & Green
Very quick shot of a Christmas decoration on our tree for this weeks theme as I've had the flu and desperatly trying to catch up with preperations for entertaining 11 people for 2 days over Christmas. Not completely happy with it but it will have to do!
For the 2nd time this month I have predicted the new theme with a shot the week before!! Think I prefer last weeks shot but never mind.
Really appreciate your comments and favourites as always.
Merry Christmas and HMM everyone!

No, I would not feel so all alone...
When j.towbin © suggested this week's MacroMonday theme, I thought it would be easy. The theme is Pareidolia, which in this context corresponds to our uncanny knack of seeing human faces in images that are not of faces at all -- show us two "eyes" and either a "nose" or "mouth", and not only do we perceive a face, we even assign a personality to it. But what I discovered is that we don't see them any more often when we are actively looking for them. If anything, it's just the opposite. I looked all over for faces this week. It wasn't easy. But it was fun.
Ran across this guy in one stone of a several-hundred foot long ten-foot high stone wall.
The other rule is that we were not to use post-processing in order to bring out the face. I couldn't resist a jagged border effect, but the face here is as the face was on the wall. (Ok, actually it was upside-down.)

Given to me due to my interest in cameras, but not much I can do here. Here is a short bio on the owner,
Dr. Arnold Burden, 96, Springhill, NS, served overseas during the Second World War. He was part of the first medical team at Normandy, and later treated victims at a concentration camp.
Burden’s bravery continued when he went underground to treat miners during the Springhill, NS, disasters in 1956 and 1958.
“He was pretty brave,” says 95-year-old retired miner Herb Pepperdine. “If you seen the mess that was in that mine, for him to go down there and help all those miners, yup.”
Pepperdine says Dr. Burden meant a lot to the community.
“Oh he meant a lot. Good doctor,” says Pepperdine. “He'd come right to your house.”
Later in life, Burden became involved in promoting the Miner's Museum and the town's coal mining history. It was said all he had to do was be asked, and he would attend any event.
Burden kept a book about his work underground. He also had a knack for knowing names.
Historical Society president Russell Fisher helped nominate him for the Order of Nova Scotia.
“He spoke to everyone. When he went to the post office or anywhere on the street, he spoke to you and he called you by name. It was different. A lot of professional people today, they haven't got time," says Burden.
Burden also received France's Legion of Honour and the Governor General's Caring Canadian Award.
This months FOTF theme of ICM was chosen by the lovely Cheryl who I think is the queen of ICM's.
Thank you Cheryl for a wonderful challenge and a very addictive technique.
These blue boats are my favourites and I always photograph them everytime I am in St.Kilda!
I hope to catch up with you all in the coming days, I've been quite under the weather, but slowly on the improve.
Doesn't feel like too much longer and will be able to swap squirrels for stags, bitterns, lambs and fell ponies for my Sunday photographers. In the meantime... a squirrel.. again.

A set of hollywood themed cupcakes for a debut. The rain got to the toppers before i was able to deliver them, so i had to make fondant versions eventually. Good thing i was able to take pictures!

I met Jordan (maybe Jordyn) today and she is amazing. I was drawn to her aura and beautiful hair, but after talking to her, I walked away feeling hopeful & seen. Super grateful for each person I meet who shows me there is still goodness in the world. I took 2 pics, one to give and one to keep, and we were both happy with the blur (despite me being a perfectionist); it feels like it's part of the story.
My awesome friend Andrea (www.flickr.com/photos/girlhula/) and I did a mini-photo project together to seek beauty in the world and to create. We gave each other themes, and my 2 were 1. Curves & 2. Shadows. Here is my interpretation.
