Young Peter used to be in a marching band hence the jacket and trousers and he always wore a large bowtie (stylin!) In his youth he had a wonderful spray of curly, fluffy hair and although it has now gone silver it's still pretty awesome ;o)

SMILE - "Old And Worn But Still There"

She was sitting on an heirloom chair in the sunshine, her long cotton

dress blowing in the soft summer breeze. The country antiques fair was

doing well and shoppers were bent over tables, examining exquisite old

brooches, glistening crystal, fine china and other treasures from bygone

years.

I fretted that she would be grabbed by an enthusiastic dealer or some

woman who wanted her sitting in an old pram, one she may have bought at

a previous antique fair. I knew that nobody could want her as much as I.

The climb up the grassy hill seemed so high; surely I would get there

and the chair would be empty!

Out of breath, I lay my hand on her immediately. Up close I saw her

imperfections: the flaking paint, the yellowed dress, and the eyelashes

that numbered fewer than once upon a time. But when I picked her up, her

eyes ever-so-slowly closed and creaked and that's when I knew she was

coming home with me, this faded worn doll with the tiny teeth and the

sweet fading smile.

Some child had loved this doll, once, long ago. Now, she sits on a

rickety chair in my home. Like me, she is imperfect. She is aging

somewhat gracelessly as the paint flakes upon her dress. But her smile

remains and I am reminded each morning to greet the world with my own smile.

TREASURED - "Daughters = Memories, Dreams, Love Joy"

So much to be treasured in life and for me, without question, it is the people who surround me whom I treasure most. Those who fill my world with joy, hope, laughter; the wonderful beings who support me in all my endeavours and who encourage me to continue when I lose confidence or weaken. They are the persons who want to be with me, who listen to me and hear what I have to say.

I am grateful for the few truly loving people I have. They love me unconditionally, as I love them. To me, that is what true love is...to be able to accept one, flaws and all, and to love that person deeply, completely, forever.

On Christmas Eve, two of these people, my two dearest friends, my cherished daughters, gave me a gift that I will treasure forever. I already know this with a certainty...that I will always hold dear this gift. Why? Because it involves time with the TWO of them. They gave me a trip to New York City. I've already had the pleasure of travelling to NYC several times with Lorelei but to go with both Lorelei AND Kimberley? Oh, I had dreamed and hoped for it but I didn't ever think it would be possible.

In my photo, you can see a framed photo of Manhattan; Lorelei shot this on one of our trips, a previous treasured memory. She and Kimberley decorated this frame with various items: pressed pennies from Lorelei's collection from our past trips to NYC, a U.S. dime, tiny pictures of the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State building, "My Way" and New York spelled out in sparkly letters.

You can see an apple timer, given to me by Lorelei, as a hint. The tiny crystal purse and rat key chains (two of them) were from Kimberley, also hints. I was supposed to guess what my gift was, to think what the theme might be but I could not. Next, postcards of New York City - one from each. I tearfully read each and as I looked at Lorelei's amazing photo, recalled the happiness I felt being there with her, I wondered how deliriously happy I would be being in NYC with the TWO of them by my side?

Will I be able to stand so much happiness? Yes! I can't wait!
