For more than 35 years, my husband, has strapped on his old tool belt...
His talent is to take 'nothing' and make it into 'Something'... using refurbished wood and repurposed scrap and turning trash into something useful! He has the eye to turn salvaged scrap wood into a piece of furniture as well as taking an out -of -date house and making it one that has curb appeal! He was 'flipping' houses when those HGTV guys were still in diapers! :)
He was self-taught. He was just out of college...He didn't KNOW what he didn't KNOW! He always has had that CAN DO spirit... I don't think that anyone ever said to him, "YOU can't do that! ".... I have never heard him say, "I can't."
We are living in our third home built by my husband... and we remodeled every home inbetween those homes. We have been in this home since 1993. Way back then, my husband buckled on this tool belt and in his 'spare time' built his family a home with his two hands and a few tools. By the sweat on his brow... and a strong back my husband built our family the home we live in today. He framed and sheet rocked our home alone and with the hands of a skilled carpenter, he crafted cabinetry and furniture for us, his family. All three of our kiddos got bedrooms with window seats and I had MY DREAMHOUSE, a house with a front porch swing and a screened back porch. :)
The acreage, that we all called, THE LAND, was turned into, OUR HOMESTEAD. The land grew a horse fence and a barn, a tree house and a fishing pier at the pond. Ten years ago my husband's 'Can Do' spirit built a dance stand, and long tables for our first daughter's wedding. Our family was growing.
We prospered by the 'fruits' of my husband's labor... Our land and home has a history, our family history.
As we begin another remodel, I reflect on our many years in this home ...
We have grown from a family of five to being blessed with 2 sons-in-law & a daughter-in-law as well as being grandparents to 7 grandchildren. We are not called Mom & Dad anymore but are affectionally called Gram & Poppy.
As I begin dinner in a kitchen that is about to be remodeled again, I THANK GOD for Poppy. God lent us a carpenter... and he carved us out a blessed life in the home that he built for us.
For this week's photography group theme, we were asked to show something OLD.
My first thought was a self portrait. I feel old. But than as I stood at my kitchen window last night and watched my husband on a high scaffold, framing a new family room for our ever-growing family, I had to laugh as I remembered the expression, "We aren't getting older, we are getting better." Poppy only gets better with time. He is like fine wine, "better with age."
As the last of the evening light fell below the neighboring hill, I watched my husband, unplug extension cords, kick off his muddy shoes, set down the tools of his trade... and unbuckle his OLD tool belt again, signaling the end of another day.
"Poppy" is home. He is MY home.

This shot was taken with a 14-24mm lens as I was perched on the safety steps of the lift hill, a great shot though.
Camelot Theme Park was a resort and theme park located in the English county of Lancashire (the last operating season was in 2012, the park did not open for 2013). The park´s theme was based on the famous legend of Camelot. It was located on a 140-acre (0.57 km2; 0.22 sq mi) site[2] near the village of Charnock Richard, 3 miles (4.8 km) west of Chorley.
I've heard the expression, "That's like comparing apples to oranges". They must be opposites.
Strobe info: Two Vivitar 285 set at 1/16 power. One above and slightly left. The other is at camera right. There's also a small slave flash shooting up from bottom right and bounced off a large white reflector.
The challenge was trying not to get any bright reflections off of the apple. The orange was easy to light with the textured skin.

Warner Bros. Studios Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter is a public attraction in Leavesden in southeastern England. It is a permanent behind the scenes exhibit of the Harry Potter films.
The Studio Tour, opened to the public in early 2012. The grand opening event was attended by many of the Harry Potter film series cast and crew members.
Each tour session typically lasting three hours, the studio tour has the capacity to handle 6,000 visitors daily. Despite Warner Bros. being the studio behind Harry Potter, the tour is styled as a theme park, due to the fact that Warner Bros. sold the licence to do so to both Warner Bros. and Universal Studios.
Though the standard tour is self-guided, various guided tours are available at an additional cost.
It only includes sets, props and costumes that were actually created for or used in the production of the Harry Potter film series.
Almost twenty years after the complex was converted from aerodrome to film studios—and over a year since the completion of work on the newly refurbished studios—the site was officially opened by the Prince William and his wife the Duchess of Cambridge on 26 April 2013. On their visit, they were accompanied by the Duke's brother Prince Harry and J. K. Rowling (who had been unable to attend the tour's grand opening the year before), amongst other guests. Several hundred beneficiaries of supported charities were given invitations to the Studio Tour on the day of the visit. The royal entourage visited both the tour and the studios, viewing the props and costumes from Christopher Nolan's Batman films, before conducting the site's inauguration.

I've been wanting to make something inspired by an old, pressed tin Bagatelle that I own. I also live not too far from a museum of fairground and steam heritage, where there are lots of penny-slot games and pinballs of different eras...I love them all, so here is my response to the challenge; "Kinetic" Pinball Ring Game. There are 3 holes surrounded by raised 'stops' that score you either 1, 3 or 5 points. The monument to the brothers Cyril and Methodius, the enlighteners, the creators of the Slavic alphabet, preaching Christianity and committed service in the Slavonic language. The monument is located in Moscow, Lubyansky proezd, near the metro station "Kitay-Gorod". Is a statue of two brothers holding the cross and the Holy Scripture. On the monument is written in old Church Slavonic: "Saint first Slavonic teachers Methodius and Cyril. Grateful Russia".
Every year on the Slavic area spend the day of Slavic writing and culture. Every year at the pedestal Cyril and Methodius runs the eponymous festival of Slavic culture.
The monument was inaugurated on 24 may 1992 (the Day of Slavic writing and culture) close to the Slavic area. Sculptor Vyacheslav Klykov Mikhailovich, the architect of the monument is Grigoriev Yuri devoted.

Une partie de ses reliques sont vénérées à la cathédrale Saint-Pierre de Vannes, dont il est le saint patron de la ville ainsi que de la Communauté valencienne. Il est fêté le 5 avril selon le Martyrologe romain, et le 5 mai par l'ordre dominicain.
"La France n'est pas oubliée dans ses missions, il en parcourt tout le Sud avec succès. Il y a souvent foule pour venir l'écouter et il impressionne ses auditeurs. Par exemple, la localité de Puy-Saint-Vincent en Vallouise (Hautes-Alpes), qui s'appelait auparavant Puy-Saint-Romain, prend son nom après son passage dans les Alpes du Sud.
