Formally known as 10 Hudson Yards, the new tower that punctuates the northern end of the High Line is the headquarters of Coach, Inc., anchor tenant of the brand new Hudson Yards complex, New York’s most active construction site. Described by former mayor Michael Bloomberg as Manhattan’s “last frontier,” Hudson Yards is often compared with Rockefeller Center, but the completed neighborhood will be twice as large as its midtown neighbor. Indeed, when it’s complete, Hudson Yards will seem like a city unto itself, with its dozens of skyscrapers, millions of square feet of retail and commercial space, restaurants, condominiums, markets, a new “culture shed,” a new park, and much more, but it will be under construction for some twenty years. The Coach building was designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and has 52 floors.

Last November my girlfriend and I went to New York for a week. Since we came home, we haven't stopped thinking about going back again.

Here's to Gotham City!

No this is not me with New York's finest, his friend was taking a shot of him with the officer so I decided not to let the pose go to waste with one shot!

One Fine Day in the Big Apple

A 20 minute walk from the chaos of Times Square finds me on the flight deck of the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier.

The aircraft carrier is part of the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum Complex which includes the Concorde, Space Shuttle and the submarine Growler.

Finally took a shot of The Big Apple stop on Highway 401 between Kingston and Toronto. The massive apple wears its mask these days. The shop sells pies and other treats and has good coffee too,

I have to admit that I took shots on my mobile phone too, but I am not one for taking selfies.

Gone are the days when we would set up a tripod with the camera, put it on a self timer and pose for what seemed like a long time waiting for the shutter take the shot.

inside a new Juan Valdez cafe - Starbucks type style - but different coffee... more traditional Colombian faire (try something with arequipe - great taste) it's at 57th and Lexington.

My uncle is the agent who is brokering all of their spaces... they are soon opening one in Times Square - they were just water testing the floor at the time I was there - they had to fill it full of water and let the pool sit there for 24 hours to make sure that it wouldn't leak anywhere... they're serious!

six word story

This year (2015) there was no public apple picking at this orchard. So the people working there sorting and packing apples are even more important to the operation. As always, the store was bustling with activity, and there were always free samples if buying the whole bag was not on one's list. Of course, there are pies, cider donuts, cider, caramel apples, and many other delicious choices, but nothing beats an apple to keep the doctor away, as they say.
