I thought that this fridge magnet sized grater would be great for the texture theme. On first glance one would think that it is only ornamental but on a closer look some ginger residue can be seen at the center of the image.
We met with a friendly enthusiastic Flick group on Sunday for our Flickr photo walk at Roma Street Gardens, Brisbane. My texture shot is of a cactus plant with thorns..
Well really only two years, but it seems like longer. Two years ago last autumn we were driving down this one lane road in Ohio when we came upon this beautiful tree hanging over the road, so I stopped and took several pictures. Since then I have tried several times to make something out of this image and failed every time, until now. I didn’t do anything different this time, I think I just cropped it better. I processed it in Photoshop and used two of my own textures on it.
The White Wave, southern Utah. When I travel, I like going off the beaten path. I abhor crowds so I look for alternative interesting places to go. When we travelled to Utah, a colleague and avid hiker of my husband advised us not to go into any of the slot canyons without a guide because of the risk of flash floods. I began searching for a guide and found this great outfit in Kanab tht fit our needs perfectly. They offered small group tours (as in 8 ppl or less). The best tour we've ever been on. The guides were are locals who had skills and knowledge, exactly what we were looking for. They talked biology, botany and geology combined with excellent driving skills and great conversation. This place was spectacular with rock formations, views and petroglyphs and artifacts. An easy hike for experienced hikers. And photo opps a plenty. I will go back someday. I want to live there.
About a half mile east of the Panacea Hotel you can turn on to Bottoms Rd. In a short drive the houses and pine trees give way to a sea of marsh grass. So many species start their lives in the marsh; it feeds the Gulf and provides a home for birds.
I processed this image in Photoshop and Textured it using my textures and Lenabem-Anna J’s texture 168.

Just beyond the sunset
Someone waits for me
Just beyond the sunset
Lies my destiny
Where the purple mountains
Lie in deep tranquillity
There I’ll find the treasure
Of love eternally
Just beyond the sunset
Waits someone so fair
Just beyond the sunset
All alone they wait there
Their hair is golden
The colour of the sand
Their eyes sparkle in the night
Like diamonds in your hand
Just beyond the sunset
Lies a home for me
Where the world is peaceful
Like a paradise should be
Just beyond the sunset
Someday is where you’ll find me
I took this picture from a covered bridge in the White Mountain National Forrest amid the slender of the New England fall foliage at its peak. I processed it in Photoshop with a little help from Dynamic Auto Painter, Topaz Studio 2, and two textures that I blended before application.
Besides whiskers on their legs, foxes also use Earth’s magnetic field to hunt their prey. Foxes leap up and pounce on their prey. They can leap in any direction, but they’re more likely to jump towards the northeast, where 72 of their attacks were successful.

Textured - It's truly amazing the level of detail many modern cameras resolve. While I enjoyed taking more compositional images of this male Allen's Hummingbird, towards the end, I noticed he was very comfortable with people. So I swapped to my zoom and quietly waited closer to his perch to capture a closeup.
I really liked this look back pose as he checked if any other hummingbirds were encroaching on his patch. Male, female, Allen's, or Anna's he didn't discriminate - gave them all the aggressive treatment. Towards the end of the morning I noticed his chest heaving as he was exerting so much energy chasing everybody.
Recently, I've been focusing primarily on enjoying my time outdoors rather than goalsetting for images. I find that this approach is more liberating. That being said I'd love to try for some flight shots next time I visit this guy.
Species: Allen's Hummingbird (Selasphorus sasin)
Location: Northern California, CA, USA
Equipment: Nikon D850 + Nikkor 200-500mm f5.6 ED VR, Handheld
Settings: 1/320s, ISO: 1250, f/8 @500mm
All kind of textures on a wall.
Looks like a map of a new world to me ;-))
What do you see?
Happy Wall Wednesday!
The bumps on the bottom of fern fronds are called sori, and they contain the reproductive structures of the plant. Unlike higher plants, ferns do not bear flowers and produce seed, they produce spores, more like fungi.......

Taken at Nash Point at sea level. The tide was too far in to go for a walk so it was perch on the rocks for a sunset. The rock formations are fascinating at Nash Point but I feel that there is almost too much texture in this shot with the rocks and cloud formations! This is how it was that evening so thought I would upload it.
