I don't like flashy awards, since they're mostly given because of an obligation to stupid group rules. If you got something to say, say it in your own words and not by copying and pasting. I don't follow such rules, so if you have the sweaper running, don't even bother to invite me please. As of now the flashy awards will be removed, no offence!

SERIES:

I'm a member of the non-profit society, The Barbados Photographic Society. Part of our activities for members includes having field trips for members to go around the island exploring. Sometimes, our field trips veer off into strange territory....

After I ended my short documentary series on the "Fire at Mangrove Pond", my friend and I headed off to our second location. My photography club had an invite and a challenge from one of our members to shoot within his backyard compound. Such a small space but rather rewarding. I was trying to do two thing at once: Shooting still abstracts and shooting video to practice my technique.

Final shot of this series on texture. This caught my eye and I snapped this on pure instinct. I didn't think too much when I got it on the computer ...until I decided to convert to black and white. I still wasn't sure if it made a great standalone image. Maybe it just belong as part of the ensemble of images and that's fine too.

I finally got to take bubble shots this weekend - wanted to do it for a long time. The weather was perfect and, aside from being eaten alive by mosquitoes, it was fun. I have more of these coming. HBW!

I hosted a photo walk for Flickr Worldwide Photo-walk Day, in Vancouver Canada. Over 50 participants from the meet group Vancouver Photo-walks combed the streets of two of Vancouver's oldest neighbourhoods looking for great texture.

This was taken in Strathcona at the home of a fellow named Harvey whom I have come to know while walking around the neighbourhood, camera in hand over the years. He owns a heritage home and a few years ago stripped off all the paint that had been put on the house in it's 100+ year history. He then repainted it the origin colour, which is a deep forrest green. The fences have never been stripped down and reveal at leas 8 different paint colours as well as the wood. You can't see them all because of the limitations of my lens - I have posted another photo below in the comments. I wish I'd used my tripod! This was at almost ground level
