Please note: my images are NOT for use on any third party sites, including stumbleupon.

On a very gray day, the colors ended up monotone and the textures and rust popped a bit more. But in the end it has a bit of a dystopian vibe.

A small waterfall next to Loch Earn, not the easiest to get a shot of :)

as the snow melts, fragments of nature re-appear, tattered but preserved. this leaf seemed weathered and resilient, like the raw, beautiful places in our hearts.

The tomato plants are still surviving in my greenhouse and the tomatoes are slowly ripening. I tried shooting this for the Macro Mondays Green theme, but liked my weeping spruce shot better for that theme. I think this shot works for Texture Tuesday though. HTT

For some reason the exif data says I used a Canon EOS 40D when infact is was a Nikon D80

in our culture of busyness and distraction, important things get lost: compassion, creativity, and presence. when i'm in a rush or lost in thoughts, i more easily box people into "other." but when i pause, i see our interconnection. it's not my pain or your pain, it's just pain. i can breathe in the collective pain, and breathe out love, acceptance, and compassion—compassion for myself, for friends, for strangers; compassion for the world.

Answer : Truncated Domes. They are a tactile warning surface for the sight impaired. They are generally located on the ground at curb ramps, transit platforms and hazardous vehicle ways.

Taken on a trip to Dorset recently. We found this waterfall in a small quiet village down the side of a church in the most peaceful setting, with big trees and a lake to supply the waterfall. I must say I was quite surprised to find this waterfall, but what a splendid surprise.

Textures In Mono, another shot from Parton near Whitehaven, Cumbria. I am experimenting with my mono side, trying to see how much detail i can bring out in the images.

This was taken at Picacho Peak State Park in Arizona. My friend, BillyZ and I went out with a strobe, soft box and a reflector one afternoon to exploit nature stuff. This is the skeleton of a saguaro cactus that was decaying slowly in the Arizona desert.

Lighting stuff: Lit with a Yongnuo 560-III in an 8.6 inch Lastolite soft box from camera left at 10 o'clock to create the side lighting that reveals shapes and textures. The flash, in manual mode, was triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N. Fill light came from a reflector on the right side.

Other pictures that I've taken of cactus are in my Cactus and Succulents album. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157633383093236/

Other plants, flowers, fruit or thingys that I've photographed using strobes can be seen in my Strobe Lit Plant album. In the description for that set, I list resources that I've used to learn how to light with off camera flash. www.flickr.com/photos/9422
