Got to do a quick lunchtime shoot with Lisa today. We shot at the office as I often do, but we tried a couple new things today so that was fun.

First of all I shot tethered for the first time. Really sad that I didn't start doing this sooner. Using Lightroom CC, a 10ft USB cable and my laptop enabled Lisa to see the images as we shot and allowed her to see what she was doing, what we like, what we didn't and adjust right away. Much better than the small screen on the back of the camera. So that worked really well.

The other thing I tried was related to lighting. I love a soft, beautiful light and usually I just use a 36" umbrella (either reflected or shoot-thru) but today I put my 5ft umbrella in front of the 36" umbrella to soften the light even more and make an even larger light source. Still all lit with a Yongnuo 560 and fired by Cactus v5s. I also used a white reflector below Lisa on the table instead of the harder silver side.

All-in-all really happy with the results and lots more to come.

Not sure if I overcooked the processing on this one. It's not HDR, just a single shot with Fuji Acros Neopan

These 2 boats are still in use, but I wonder for how much longer.

This is Dungeness beach, and it is a lot more tidy than it used to be. Many of the old boats and buildings have been removed.

What would have now been known as The Secret War has long past. Many universes collided together, to form what is now called Battleworld. This all started when a Conqueror named Kang decided that his conquest would no longer just be set on one timeline, but all of them. Using Tachyon Rifts and Quantum tethers in the Negative Zone, he created a safe way to travel to other universes. But these rifts caused the worlds to be open to each other and eventually they started to merge. Unsure of what was happening, the worlds fought, whether for their own intentions or misunderstanding. For years the war raged on and Kang watched over in glee that his plan, in a weird way, had worked. Over the years, the Multiversal War turned Battleworld into ruins essentially making it a wasteland to inhabit. But Immortus, a Kang from another universe, had came along and set out to stop his evil counterpart by assembling a team of heroes across the multiverse.

Top Row (L to R)

Marc Spector: Spirit of Vengeance

Universe Designation: 666.

Marc Spector had gone on an expedition to Egypt. But instead of finding anything on Khonshu (The main purpose of the expedition), he found ancient text on a demon named Mephisto. At the same time, a group of mercenaries bust in looking for treasure and Marc gets severely hurt in the process. Taking pity on Marc and seeing this as an opportunity, Mephisto gave Marc the powers of the Spirit of Vengeance, to enact vengeance on those who have wronged him. Immortus recruited him for his demonic abilities which would be useful against his evil doppelgänger.

Peter Parker: Captain America

Universe Designation: 1776

Born the Nephew of Peggy Carter, Peter Carter-Parker lived his life normally with his two parents until he was bitten by a spider. He gained powers and used them reckless until the government found his uncle, Steve Rogers frozen in the Antarctic, who was long presumed dead in the war. When Steve was getting adjusted to the new world, Peter tried to help him get him used to the modern world. While around his uncle, he grew to become more humble and responsible with his abilities, soon becoming the sidekick of Captain America, referring to himself as Spider-Man. But on one tragic night, his uncle was killed by the Skull Goblin and from then on Peter took on the mantle of Captain America. Peter was recruited by Immortus because of his leadership, compassion, will power, and his selfless morals.

Immortus: Leader of The Council of The Multiverse

Universe Designation: 2021

Nathaniel Richards was a man known for his genius in his world. He discovered universal and temporal travel, and used it to gain knowledge in secret with many aliases. When his doppelgänger from another universe started to cause the Multiversal Apocalypse, he was unaware of the collision of the multiverse until it was too late. After the collision, all he could do was plan, and plan he did. He searched throughout Battleworld to find and form the best team of heroes and villains alike to come together to get their homes back.

Nathan Richards: Iron Lad

Universe Designation: 717

Pretty much consistently living similarly the mainline 616 but the only major difference is his entrapment in the hellhole that Battleworld was. Immortus recruited this variant of himself because it’s an intellectual similar to his own that is morally good, and great minds think alike.

Wanda Maximoff: Quicksilver

Universe Designation: 11521

In a universe where Wanda had the abilities of her brother instead of her own and vice versa, young Wanda became the youngest Avenger and X-Men member at the age of 13. She was the first member Immortus recruited due to her immense speed, and plus she was still a young child in the wasteland of Battleworld.

Bottom (L to R)

Ororo: Goddess of Thunder

Universe Designation: 51975

Born the daughter of Odin, Ororo grew up as the Goddess of Thunder and came to Midgard to help those in need regardless of who they were and allied with many people of Midgard, notably The X-Men. When the Battleworld was formed, her former hammer Mjolnir was destroyed and when she was recruited by Immortus, they had to form a new axe to help focus her powers.

Dormammu: Sorcerer Supreme

Universe Designation: 111964

This Dormmamu, contrary to other universes, is a benevolent being that chooses guardians to bond with to become the Sorcerer Supreme. In this case he chose the apprentice of the Ancient One, Karl Mordo for this bonding process. After the Battleworld merger, Immortus came to the pair for their mastery over magic.

Gamora: Star Lord

Universe Designation: 61975

In a universe where her lover, Peter Quill sacrificed his life to defeat the Mad Titan, Gamora honored his legacy by taking up his title of Star Lord and leading the Guardians. In Battleworld, Immortus recruited her for her strategic ability and warrior spirit.

Clint Barton: The Taskmaster

Universe Designation: 19805

Tony Masters train a protege in the ways of being The Taskmaster. The young apprentice was Clint Barton who took the mantle because of his ability to easily excel at all of Tony’s lessons. Immortus recruited him for his capabilities to copy any fighting style and archery.

Donald Blake: Demigod of Thunder

Universe Designation: 81962

Odin had came to Midgard, looking for a maiden in what would be an unorthodox way to do so. During his stint on Midgard, he fell in love with a woman but he had to leave for Asgard as a war was brewing. Unbeknownst to Odin, his maiden was pregnant with his child. The child would be born as Donald Blake, a demigod. Similar to the tale of Hercules, Donald eventually found out about his godly nature and went on to travel the world to discover who he really was. In Battleworld, he was recruited for his raw power.

Found still life from Newborough Beach. Anglesey, North Wales. Shot as seen.

A tethered sheep as a lawn mower in a farmhouse surrounds.

West Gippsland, Victoria, Australia.

a massive limb broken off a dead tree on the cliff that'd been caught in another tree as it drifted away. i freed it & tried steering it around the corner with the canoe but it was too huge to be able to wrestle it fully outta the current so i gave up & went to make coffee.

returning to the shore for a chore later, i found it'd gotten caught in the eddy along the north shore & was more or less stuck on some rocks right where i'd wanted to push it to with the boat. got in there & hauled it close enough to be able to tie it off so it'll still be there for dismemberment tomorrow into a week's worth of firewood.

A marvellous dual-purpose day out in London... starting off with a flickrwalk around the streets of Southwark, following the Tate's Street Art trail, and flickr-sponsored drinks and food (thank you *so* much squirrelmonkey for organising such a great event - it was wonderful to meet so many other flickrrs!), followed by Massive Attack's opening night gig at the Meltdown Festival.
