Jon Tester, Tap With Tester

Sex Tester in the arcade at Cedar Point.

My grandfather made this Christmas light bulb tester in the 50's or 60's. It might even be from the 40's. All of the principal family members who would know these answers, are gone..

To operate, Plug the tester in and then slide a bulb onto the brass strip on the right. Slide the bulb to the left till the socket touches the brass strip on the left. If both bulbs light, the blub is good. It also works on regular incandescent bulbs.

'Tester' is the radio call-sign used by the ETPS and on her nose you can see the special 'orange painted' pitot tube used in the training syllabus which measures a variety of air 'components' away from the disturbance of the rotor downwash and airframe.

Based at Boscombe Down she waited in the hover before entering and departing East back home to Salisbury Plain.

The C/U version of the TV-7 was only made up here in Canada and you'll notice the 4 extra sockets in the lid for testing European tube types.

By far the best and easiest to use Stark mutual conductance tube tester. Smaller than the 9-66 and can test many more tube types. These are far rarer than the 9-66 and hence don't get the hype. Don't be fooled, this is a great tube tester. This one was built by a Stark line foreman for his personal use.

Three very different Stark Electronics 9-11 tube testers. The one on the far left is the earlier of all three. A simple emissions tester that Stark made for almost 30 years.

This 9-55 is a little different than most of the 9-55's I've seen. It has added features like a battery and continuity tester. It came with the original test leads still in the box and an instruction sheet dated May 1948.

It's almost mediterranean and really brightens up the steps down the side of our house. Credit for the idea to Deesta: I was inspired by her picture of pots she painted. I'll pull up the poppies when they've finished flowering.

The 9-56 Deluxe may have been the only bench top model made by Stark. I've only seen 3 of these over the years and two have been on ebay. One was a rust bucket. The hinged lid is removable.

A beautiful looking tester in a beautiful cabinet. Supreme sure knew how to make a piece of test equipment into a piece of art.

A freebie from Shimano - a little widget for testing hub dynamos! I'm so easily entertained...

That's all this was, just a tester for the main event. But after looking at it, having a bit of a play with it and another look, it just seemed a bit too different to waste.

The class 175 is actually a reasonably photogenic creation, certainly when compared to it's peers from the time. Ok, it's never going to win over a Tractor on load 4, but it could be worse. Voyager, Turbostar...

This tube tester is one of the coolest looking emission testers I've ever seen. Most are simple beasts whereas this one has a stylist look to it (I think so anyways). Housed in a nice oak case the tester looks like it has had little use. Currently not working, I'm in need of a schematic to get it going again. If anyone can help, it would be appreciated.

31058 Kawasaki-Hughes OH-6J in TRDI marks. I think this was related to the special bearingless rotor assembly. You can see the elongated pito tube leading from the lower cabin.

A small emission type tester good for antique radio work only. Will test some audio & TV type tubes but go with the 9-66 if that's what you need. Although the case is a bit shabby, the face of this tester is pretty good. It's one of two of these I own and the other is a mess. This one I acquired in a trade, the other I got from ebay. If you're looking for a tube tester, stay away from ebay. It's a place to buy parts units.
