"Dirty Harry" Contaminates St. George, Utah
On May 19, 1953, a 32-kiloton nuclear test, later dubbed "Dirty Harry," was fired at the Nevada Test Site. The fallout progressed between Alamo and Glendale, Nevada, as predicted. Roadblocks were in place along highways and inhabitants had been moved temporarily away from the fallout path. Surface winds from northern Arizona blew the airborne debris further north than expected. When radiation levels in St. George started to rise higher than anticipated, the sheriff was notified and advised to order the 4,500 residents to stay indoors for two hours. The radiation monitors stationed there helped direct the residents indoors

A base test shot on my new Canon 5D Mark II at 1600 ISO using a Canon f/2.8L 24-70mm lens @70mm in RAW format.
Note on the 5D2 shots: I noticed I had the exposure adjusted downward, so that's why they appear a bit darker than the 400D. The 400D also had its exposure boosted upwards. Whoops!
On a walk around the city to catch up with the earthquake rebuild. August 2018 Christchurch New Zealand.
A different day, same aerial as other tests. Nikon D40, Nikkor 80-200mm f/4.5 AiS @ f/16, 1/400s, ISO 200.
New tool testing!! think it needs a bit of work!!. Didn't manage to get out till gone 10 tonight so was only able to get an hour down the beach!! But it was nice to spend a bit of time winding down before work. ha ha!!
(taken on one exposure, no additions after the exposure. I use aperture3 as a RAW converter and will adjust levels, saturation, white balance, brightness and some minor cropping if required.)
We now have a photo studio thing at Banksies house so we met and did a load of test shots for peoples posters. We were happy with the results straight out of the camera!
Test print in low quality. I've made this test of my doll head's lid to check the size and some details.

I stand corrected on my previous opinion of Panasonics JPEG engine. Check the original of this image. Left is JPEG out of
camera, right is RAW corrected for sharpness and noise reduction in LR. Notice the difference. The JPEG would be totally useless for print. The right is acceptable considering it was shot at 6400 ISO, 250mm hand-held at 1/125 second.
I've come to the conclusion that my problem lies with the noise and sharpness corrections in camera. I'll have to see if there is not some way to turn those completely off.
I am working on an extensively illustrated edition of the four gospels in the Celtic style. One reason is my admiration of Jesus' message. The other is to hopefully stem the tide of conservative Christian hatred that seems to be growing in the United States, I sense they concentrate more on the violent and repulsive passages of the Bible to shore up their fear and hatred of anyone who doesn't fully agree with them. I know if they would only give the gospels more attention they would realize their errors. To this end I will humbly present my gospels in the Celtic style to get America to be attracted to them and actually read them, and hopefully to move further on to study them in their historical context and languages. You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. This is a typical page, one from the Sermon on the Mount, which I'm posting to hopefully let my Flickr friends give me feedback on. Although I can't take credit for the font, all the illustrations are done by me. Is it too empty? Do you like the drop shadows on the illustrations? Is the font too busy? Any comment would be appreciated.
Thanks folks!
Test Track Attraction at Epcot theme park is a high-speed vehicle-simulation ride in which big kids, teens and adults test their mettle in one of Disney's longest and fastest rides.
Step into the world of automotive testing as your 6-seat vehicle undergoes the safety and quality tests that General Motors performs on every prototype it manufactures.
As you begin this 5-minute, nearly one-mile auto escapade, strap yourself in, ascend steep terrain that's 3 stories high, then let loose downhill, blasting across a bumpy road and roaring through 50-degree banked curves and hair-pin turns that test suspension and brakes at speeds up to 60 miles per hour!
Zoom into the environmental chamber to endure the extreme heat and cold tests—at temperatures that are 100 degrees apart! Then, see if your vehicle will withstand corrosion when robots mist water upon it. Finally, face the challenge of avoiding a crash barrier… in the nick of time!
