Onlookers hold towels to cover their eyes from smoke to shield their face from the heat.
I took at couple steps back as I found it too hot standing near the barricade.
For an explanation of the festival, see the description in the set. Photos in the set are arranged chronologically to aid in understanding the event. Unfortunately, I've written the photo descriptions with the assumption that the set description was read first. That is likely not the case.
Last year it seemed like everyone and their mom's was trying out for Adventure Time (my favorite cartoon) and I was no exception. Obviously, I didn't make the cut but I thought I'd post my boards. If you look at this one in the slideshow view it's more fun to cycle through.

"Dirty Harry" Contaminates St. George, Utah
On May 19, 1953, a 32-kiloton nuclear test, later dubbed "Dirty Harry," was fired at the Nevada Test Site. The fallout progressed between Alamo and Glendale, Nevada, as predicted. Roadblocks were in place along highways and inhabitants had been moved temporarily away from the fallout path. Surface winds from northern Arizona blew the airborne debris further north than expected. When radiation levels in St. George started to rise higher than anticipated, the sheriff was notified and advised to order the 4,500 residents to stay indoors for two hours. The radiation monitors stationed there helped direct the residents indoors

Last Sunday I was bored and got this crazy idea. I mashed in some wheat malt, crystal malt and roasted barley. Then I mixed the wort with honey and water and boiled with Saaz hops (20 min + 1 min). I cooled it off and measured it SG1080. Then I pitched some drops of California lager yeast kept in the fridge from a previous brew. Dry hopped with some more Saaz a couple of days ago.
2 liters hopped mead fermenting, for a week now and still bubbling.
Savannah tested for her gold belt and Chris tested for his orange belt on the same day. Both passed!
A short test I made tracking my son Jack along a local beach using the DIY Steadicam I made. It's based on the design of the Steadicam Merlin 2. So far so good. Still getting some small amount of vibration/judder at times through small slip in gimbal - but overall very happy with results.
