So I mentioned that the Rapax shutter on the 101mm Raptar lens that came with the camera could use some love. I'm trying to decide if I should spend the money to have a CLA (clean, lube and adjust) done on it or if I should get adventurous and try it myself. For the time being, it's half usable. I think the high speed mechanism is ok and the T&B settings are functional. So it's ok for everything except the 1/10th to 1 second settings.

While I ponder what to do with the original lens/shutter combo, I decided to put together another lens/shutter that I could sub in if need be. The lens is a Kodak 105mm Anastigmat in a Kodak Compur shutter that came off an old Kodak Recomar folding 6x9 camera (another project...don't ask...). I'm pretty sure this is another Tessar derived lens, so it should be a decent performer when stopped down. While the slow shutter speeds are a little slow on the Compur, they're at least predictable (as opposed to the Rapax that is not predictable in the slightest). I whipped up a rough but functional lensboard out of some 3/32" bass wood. Should I need shutter speeds longer than a 1/10th but shorter than something I could reliably time on the bulb setting, I can get the Anastigmat to fill in.

I'm keeping an eye open for a 101mm Kodak Ektar which was kind of the benchmark for the 2x3 press cameras. If I can pick one of those up, I might do so and then tear down the Rapax on my own. If not, reports on the 101m Raptar aren't too bad, so it might be worth the cost of a professional CLA.

The wet and the dry of the terraces are temporary. Change appears slow in our lifetimes, but changes in the blink of an eye geologically.

The neoclassical yellow brick Palm Beach County Courthouse was built to the design of Wilber Talley in 1916. An east annex, also designed by Talley, was added in 1927 and other additions in 1955. A 135,000-square-foot wrap-around expansion in 1972, designed by Jefferson N. Powell and Donald Edge mummified the original structure and part of the original building was given away or destroyed. The Palm Beach Memorial Park Cemetery located in Lantana received some of its 12 masonry columns. Six of the columns also stand at the entrance to the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in southern West Palm Beach. After many individual and collective efforts to save the historic courthouse from demolition, led by community preservationists and Historical Society leaders, the Board of County Commissioners voted in April 2002 to preserve and share the building with the public, committing to pay the estimated $18.5 million to restore the building to its original, neo classical grandeur.

The opportunity paved the way for the Historical Society of Palm Beach County to request space for the countys first history museum inside the restored courthouse. The museums design plans include permanent and temporary exhibit space, each reflecting the influence of the many cultures in Palm Beach Countys diverse history, from the earliest Native American inhabitants to the present day. A central component to the museum expereince will be a visit to the seat of the countys judicial and legislative beginnings, the courthouses two story, 2,897 square foot historic courtroom, located on the third and fourth floors in the center of the building.

28 June 1986 was the annual Lytham Club Day. A procession took place during the morning which saw the main town roads closed. Most buses terminated on Woodville Terrace adjacent to Lowther Gardens. This would include Fylde buses on the 4 to St. Annes and 11A to Blackpool and buses on the 22/22A to Cleveleys. Several duplicates were provided to cope with club day crowds and here Fylde 77 - the sole survivor of Lytham's three 1970 Atlanteans is parked up awaiting an opportunity to assist. By this time 77 was the last DD to retain blue, white and yellow livery and was repainted later in the year.

As I tried to get the best angle to take this, for once waiting for the sun to go in, a guy leaned out of a window on the fourth floor above, curious about what I was doing. This is a frequent occurrence, especially in places where the ordinary is the fabric of every day life, where unusual details become the accepted norm. Passers by will look towards the direction the camera's pointed in, and I'll smile and try not to impose too much; on occasion we'll have a chat in my disjointed Slavic Esperanto. It's a fine line to try to capture something, but not be seen as taking advantage. People will often treat me as if I'm local i.e. I'll be asked for directions (or that could be down to the rarity of foreigners), so there's a hope that I don't stand out too much.

n Western Europe, the era of beguinages started in the 12th century.[2] In Ghent, the construction of two beguinages started in 1234. They were founded by the Countesses Johanna and Margaretha of Flanders. A large part of the beguinage leaned against the city wall. It accommodated the beguines from the minor nobility and the newly formed middle class.

The beguinage as it is today dates mainly from the 17th and 18th centuries. It was partially restored in the 19th and 20th centuries, but the restorations are hardly noticeable.

After strolling along Haeundae Beach, one of South Korea’s most popular beaches, be sure to stop by this outdoor village of roadside seafood restaurants, better known as Haemul Pojangmacha-chon. It's a tourist attraction populated by over 40 simple, tented places to eat and drink on the major road next to the beach. The local tourism commission has done a great job in consolidating all of these places and promoting the freshly caught seafood available. At night time, the light being emitted from the plastic covered stalls contrasted nicely with the brightness coming from the concrete towers beyond, all amid the dark night.

Metroline's assumption of route 222 from London United from 16th September has set into motion a complicated set of vehicle allocation changes, with the result that Uxbridge Garage is temporarily operating a number of brand-new Volvo B5LH/Weight Gemini 3s on route 114. These buses are not fitted with Uxbridge blinds as they are intended for service at Willesden, so are carrying slipboards with the route number and destination.
