Bangkok, Thailand
This is a small section of the wall of a chedi or stupa at a Buddhist temple in Bangkok, Thailand. We were told that the buildings of this complex were made in the Cambodian Buddhist style.

These towers of Entrada sandstone are the remnants of the larger plateau that has eroded over time. These towers rise roughly 400 feet from the valley floor.
Our original intention was to spend the night in the boonies and take star photos over these temples. However, the day called for rain in the afternoon so we did a quick day trip. No disappointment because this place is magical. Total isolation, lonely dirt road, and silence. We did not want to get stuck out here when it rains because the roads turn to mush so left in time to avoid that. We will return . . .
the Temple Tree resort on Langkawi Island is named after this little shrine at the base of a tree within its grounds.
The Temple Island in Henley-On-Thames is a beautiful little spot tucked away amongst the more exalted bustle of the Henley Regatta. I first caught wind of this place a few years ago when I had been a spectator at the Henley Regatta. Although I wanted to take some shots, there were not a lot of cloud cover to make it worth my while.
As a landscape photographer, everyone would nod their heads in unison that whilst sunny weather is preferred, all sun with little clouds does not really make for some compelling viewing especially at dusk.
So I went back thinking I should be here on other day when the clouds would play ball. Thing is you do not need too much of wind either or your reflection would be shot. So in all, there are a lot of factors that need to come together to get a good photograph of a place. There wasn't much of a wind blowing although there were a lot of boats going backwards and forwards which leaves a big wake every now and then. So you have to time the shot in between such instances.
In all, it was a decent evening's work at the temple island. Midsummer is a good time to be here with the sun setting adjacent to this location.

This temple in Sarahan is dedicated to Goddess Bhimakali ,the presiding deity of the former rulers of the erstwhile Bushahr state in Himachal Pradesh,India . Sarahan ,a very pretty little town some 170 kms from Shimla ,was once the capital of the Bushahr kingdom.Later the capital was shifted to Rampur.Sarahan (altitude around 10000 feet) is situated a little off the main Shimla-Kinnaur highway and is also known as the Gateway to Kinnaur. It is a very picturesque place surrounded by pretty little villages and apple orchards and commands magnificent views of the snow-capped Himalayas. The town contains some very beautiful specimens of hill architecture.
On our last visit ,exactly a year earlier, it had rained cats and dogs but luckily this time there were clear blue skies and stunning views of the snow covered peaks.Although Sarahan is not as popular as regular tourist destinations like Shimla or Manali I personally feel it is one of the prettiest places in Himachal.

The Vittala Temple or Vitthala Temple in Hampi is an ancient monument that is well-known for its exceptional architecture and unmatched craftsmanship. It is considered to be one of the largest and the most famous structure in Hampi. The temple is located in the north eastern part of Hampi, near the banks of the Tungabhadra River.

The Galtaji Monkey Temple near Jaipur, in Rajasthan, India is a popular tourist and Hindu pilgrim destination. The site, which dates back to the 1500's, consists of a series of Hindu temples built into a narrow crevice in the hills that surround Jaipur. Water from a natural spring flows into a series of sacred pools (kunds) in which pilgrims bathe and youths play. The site is also famous for the numerous monkeys (rhesus macaques and langur monkeys) that live there and entertain the visitors.

Jerash , Jordan
The Jerash Temple of Artemis is a Roman temple in Jerash, Jordan. The temple was built on one of the highest points and dominated the whole city. Ruins of the temple are still one of the most remarkable monuments left of the ancient city of Gerasa (Jerash).
Construction of the temple was finished in CE 150, during the reign of Emperor Antoninus Pius.
The building had a hexastyle portico with twelve columns, of which eleven are still standing. Corinthian capitals decorating the columns are very well preserved. The temple walls had three entrances decorated with three Corinthian pilasters.
The Temples of the Sun and the Moon are located in Cathedral Valley in Capitol Reef National Park. These two sandstone monoliths rise almost 300 feet from the valley floor. The Temple of the Sun is actually slightly larger than the Temple of the Moon which is closer. Our trusty red truck which brought us to this remote location is at the base of the Temple of the Moon.
Happy Truck Thursday!
The Temple of the Sun (on the right) and of the Moon (on the left) in Cathedral Valley. It was an area of social isolation. We saw no other people while we visited this location. If you zoom in and find the sign by the road in front of the monolith on the right, you can get a sense of how enormous these formations are. The white stream circling around the Temple of the Sun and heading toward the Temple of the Moon is a dry wash.
We are home now in the Seattle area. Feels odd that the streets are so emply and quiet.
The Temple of Heaven is located in southern Beijing. It is included in the UNESCO world heritage list in 1998. With an area of 2.7 million square meters, it is the largest of its kind in the country. Built in 1420, the 18th year of the reign of Ming Emperor Yongle, the temple was where emperors went to worship heaven for good harvests.

Each temple at Angkor has a different character. The Ta Som Temple is smaller in scale but still well preserved. Like many of the Angkor temples, various structures are enveloped in large ficus (fig) trees. Over time the roots and limbs of the ficus become intertwined to form a unique visual juxtaposition.

The village of Temple was once the headquarters of the Knights Templar in Scotland from whom it takes its name, previously being known as Balantrodoch. The land was granted to the Templars by king David I in 1153 and held by them until the order was supressed in 1312.
The ruins of the old parish church date from the early 14th century.
