The Temple of Jupiter, Capitolium, or Temple of the Capitoline Triad, was a temple in Roman Pompeii, at the north end of its forum. Initially dedicated to Jupiter alone, it was built in the mid-2nd century BC at the same time as the temple of Apollo was being renovated - this was the area at which Roman influence over Pompeii increased and so Roman Jupiter superseded the Greek Apollo as the town's highest god. Jupiter was the ruler of the gods and the protector of Rome, where his temple was the center of Roman Religion and of the cult of state.

An authentic Egyptian temple dating back to the 2nd century BC, transported to Madrid’s Cuartel de la Montaña Park. The temple was donated to Spain by the Egyptian government to save it from floods following the construction of the great Aswan Dam.

One of several Roman temples you can see at Largo di Torre Argenina in central Rome.

This Roman (now known as temple A) was built in the 3rd century B.C. - probably by Gaius Lutatius Catulus after his victory over the Carthaginians in 241 B.C. It was dedicated to Juturna or Juno Curritis. All the temples in the area burnt down in 80 A.D., but were rebuilt, and the temples were renovated in the 3rd century A.D. too.

This temple was later turned into a Christian church: San Nicola dei Cesarini.

The church was built in the 9th century, reusing the old temple. It was later heavily rebuilt in the 17th century, but that was torn down in the end of the 1920s and parts of the original church was then revealed - which can be seen here.

Located in the courtyard of temple of Christ the Savior, can see a beautiful view.

The complex of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior - a unique architectural construction. Christ the Savior Cathedral - upper temple; Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord - lower temple; Patriarchal Museum of religious art; Viewing platforms at a height of 40 m; Refectory; Several halls and choirs.

and unfortunate truth: for the temple allocated only 3697.27 square meters (7% of the total area). the rest of the lion part of the territory leased to the companies ... that are not associated with religion.

Srirangam in South India is famous for the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple complex. A major pilgrimage destination for Hindus, it is the largest temple complex in India.

The Temple of Asclepius built at the little lake there in the park of Villa Borghese, Rome. The temple building itself is late 18th century (built 1785-1792), but it was built as a home for some ancient sculptures. The statue of Asclepius himself is thought to have come from the Mausoleum of Augustus, and the other, smaller pieces are of Hellenistic date and style.

The Diana Temple in the Munich Hofgarten, the garden of the Munich Residenz (the former royal palace of the Wittelsbach monarchs of Bavaria) was created in 1613–1617 in Italian style together with the Hofgarten. The park was destroyed during World War II and partly redesigned as an English-style garden. Like the whole Hofgarten, the Diana Temple is usually open to the public. Exceptions are rare, such as when it was used as a backdrop for filming (for example, The Three Musketeers (2011).Concerts are held in the pavilion In the summer evenings.

The garden is mentioned in T. S. Elliot's poem The Waste Land.

The Temple of Garni is the only standing Greco-Roman colonnaded building in Armenia and the former Soviet Union. Built in the Ionic order in the village of Garni, Armenia, it is the best-known structure and symbol of pre-Christian Armenia.

The Temple of Garni is the only standing Greco-Roman colonnaded building in Armenia. An Ionic pagan temple located in the village of Garni is the best-known structure and symbol of pre-Christian Armenia. The structure was probably built by king Tiridates I in the first century AD as a temple to the sun god Mihr.

I was caught in a snowstorm while sightseeing in Arashiyama District. On the following morning, I found it was still snowing in the center of Kyoto City. The falling snow melted as soon as it fell on the ground, whereas hedges and tiled roofs were lightly covered in snow. It would melt in a short time. I hit on the idea that snow would stay longer in higher elevation. I changed my itinerary and headed to a certain temple.

Batu Caves, complex of limestone grottoes in Peninsular Malaysia. The caves are one of the country’s biggest tourist attractions and are a place of pilgrimage for Tamil Hindus. They are named for the Sungai Batu (Batu River), which flows nearby, and are located 7 miles (13 km) north of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.

The caves were little-known except to local residents until 1878, when the American naturalist William Temple Hornaday revealed their existence to the wider world. K. Thamboosamy Pillay, a leader of the Tamil Hindu community in Malaya (as the region was then called), built a temple within the caves in 1891. It is said that he took inspiration from the similarity in shape of the cave entrance to the tip of the vel, or spear, traditionally wielded by the deity Murugan. Thaipusam, the Tamil Hindu festival devoted to Murugan, was first celebrated on the site in 1892 and is now a major event that attracts hundreds of thousands of pilgrims annually.

The Batu Caves are located within a high limestone outcropping. A colossal gold-painted statue of Murugan, made from reinforced concrete and 140 feet (42.7 metres) in height, stands near the base of a flight of 272 steps. As visitors climb the steps, they are frequently accosted by macaques begging aggressively for food. At the top of the steps is the entrance to the largest cave, called Cathedral Cave or Temple Cave. Within it is the largest of several temples on the site. At a lower level on the flight of steps is Dark Cave, which is sometimes closed to visitors. Other caves lie still closer to the base of the steps. Ramayana Cave has an entrance marked with a statue of the monkey god Hanuman, hero of the Indian epic poem Ramayana. The cave itself is lined with dioramas depicting scenes from the epic. The Cave Villa, which includes Art Gallery Cave and Museum Cave, features more paintings and statues.

of the Moon (left) and the Sun. Cathedral Valley, Capital Reef National Park, Utah.

These towers of Entrada sandstone are the remnants of the larger plateau that has eroded over time. These towers rise roughly 400 feet from the valley floor.

Our original intention was to spend the night in the boonies and take star photos over these temples. However, the day called for rain in the afternoon so we did a quick day trip. No disappointment because this place is magical. Total isolation, lonely dirt road, and silence. We did not want to get stuck out here when it rains because the roads turn to mush so left in time to avoid that. We will return . . .

the Temple Tree resort on Langkawi Island is named after this little shrine at the base of a tree within its grounds.

The Temple Island in Henley-On-Thames is a beautiful little spot tucked away amongst the more exalted bustle of the Henley Regatta. I first caught wind of this place a few years ago when I had been a spectator at the Henley Regatta. Although I wanted to take some shots, there were not a lot of cloud cover to make it worth my while.

As a landscape photographer, everyone would nod their heads in unison that whilst sunny weather is preferred, all sun with little clouds does not really make for some compelling viewing especially at dusk.

So I went back thinking I should be here on other day when the clouds would play ball. Thing is you do not need too much of wind either or your reflection would be shot. So in all, there are a lot of factors that need to come together to get a good photograph of a place. There wasn't much of a wind blowing although there were a lot of boats going backwards and forwards which leaves a big wake every now and then. So you have to time the shot in between such instances.

In all, it was a decent evening's work at the temple island. Midsummer is a good time to be here with the sun setting adjacent to this location.

This temple in Sarahan is dedicated to Goddess Bhimakali ,the presiding deity of the former rulers of the erstwhile Bushahr state in Himachal Pradesh,India . Sarahan ,a very pretty little town some 170 kms from Shimla ,was once the capital of the Bushahr kingdom.Later the capital was shifted to Rampur.Sarahan (altitude around 10000 feet) is situated a little off the main Shimla-Kinnaur highway and is also known as the Gateway to Kinnaur. It is a very picturesque place surrounded by pretty little villages and apple orchards and commands magnificent views of the snow-capped Himalayas. The town contains some very beautiful specimens of hill architecture.

On our last visit ,exactly a year earlier, it had rained cats and dogs but luckily this time there were clear blue skies and stunning views of the snow covered peaks.Although Sarahan is not as popular as regular tourist destinations like Shimla or Manali I personally feel it is one of the prettiest places in Himachal.
