This is a 12" tower Xochitl & I have developed! It stresses the use of a hexagon with slightly arched edges and triangle based legs tabbed together for extra strength and then inserted into the arches of the module underneath!
Things I need to do: Think about how gradual my tower needs to be: more weight and stronger base near the bottom and lighter modules near the top. We need a 4' tower by this Wednesday! I think we got this!!!

Technical Summary
I created a very basic character in a Maya, as the module focuses most on the character animation. The character is technically fairly simple also. I modelled the scene first, which includes grass using a Maya fur effect and some plant pots made simply from polygons. There is also a garden hose which is made using a helix, which I textured green and white, and a tap which I box modelled using an online tutorial.
The character was modelled after and fits into the scene. It moves using a rig which consists of a spine and individual joints for each petal. The petals can be moved together using manipulators which use set driven keys, so they can bend together backwards or forwards. This was particularly difficult as I had to paint the weights of each individual petal so that they wouldn’t affect the movement of each other. Setting driven keys was very useful for animation, and even though setting it up was complex it made animating the movement of the petals much smoother and overall it looked better. I originally tried to use bend deformers but it meant I couldn’t move all the petals at once and I
couldn’t use them individually.
I decided to keep it simple with the hands as they didn’t require much movement outside of a stretch, so they are controlled by bend deformers. Overall I thought this worked quite well as it made keyframing easy.
I am slightly disappointed that I wasn’t able to stretch my technical skill to the limit, but I know that I have problems with Maya sometimes and I find working it out difficult, so I decided to make it simple, easy to animate and just generally more effective.

If Lego were to make larger scale anthro style animal characters, the bodies would have to change. Fabuland heads are creepily too big for Technic bodies.

Travertine flowstone in a Virginia cave, USA.
"Cave formations" in caves are technically called speleothem. Most speleothem is composed of travertine, a crystalline-textured chemical sedimentary rock composed of calcite (CaCO3). Travertine forms in most caves and at some springs by precipitation of crystals from water. Pure travertine is white. The colors seen in the travertine shown above are from iron oxides. Travertine speleothem occurs in a wide variety of forms. The most common variety is dripstone, which forms by the action of dripping water - examples include stalactites, stalagmites, columns, and draperies. The second most common variety is flowstone, which forms from flowing films of water. Flowstone has the appearance of a frozen waterfalls.
The publicly accessible portions of Endless Caverns are developed in structurally tilted carbonates of the New Market Limestone (Middle Ordovician). Other portions of the cave are in overlying units: the Lincolnshire Limestone and the Edinburgh Formation.
Locality: Endless Caverns, south of the town of New Market, eastern Rockingham County, northern Virginia, USA
Are you planning on using #shrink #film to pack your products? Great choice. But you must understand a wide array of technical terms related to shrink-films. An understanding of this technical data will allow you to use the film with the right configuration.
In this article, we are going to explain some of these terms.
1. Haze
Haze is the measurement of the cloudiness of the film. A package communicates the amount of haze in it in the percentage format. The film will be clearer with a lower percentage. If you want your customers to have a look at the original product without tearing apart the packaging, you can ask for the film with a lower percentage of haze.
2. Gloss
As the name suggests, this characteristic allows the film to reflect light. The glossiness of a shrink film is represented through a certain angle of degree. The higher the number, the higher the glossiness will be.
3. COF
The COF, or coefficient of friction, is a representation of the ability of the film to slide against different surfaces. With a higher COF, the film will less likely to slip or move.
Several applications do not need a slippery film for #product #packaging. Companies that have to work on those applications generally order for the film with higher COF.
4. Shrinkage MD/TD
The amount of shrink measured in the machine direction (MD) and the cross direction (TD) is known as shrinkage, also called unrestricted shrink. The TD and MD of the film are at 90 degrees to each other. Shrinkage gets the value in percentage.
5. Tear Resistance MD/TD
Tear resistance, too, is measured in both the machine direction and the transverse direction. The ability of a film to resist tearing is called tear resistance. Generally, high-clarity films are more tear-resistant. Increasing the thickness of the film increases the film’s tear resistance. If you have high-value products to pack, you can consider using a high-clarity film.
6. OTR
OTR, or Oxygen transmission rate, refers to the extent to which a film allows the oxygen to pass through it. This characteristic gets its representation by CC per 100 square inches over 24 hours. Lowering the number would allow less oxygen to pass through the film.
Using this information
Using the above information, you can ask your packaging supplier to configure the shrink film according to your packaging requirements. First, you need to know the configuration of packaging that is going to ensure the safety of your product while it’s on its way to the customer. You can give this information to your supplier, and ask them to provide you with the shrink film that’s right according to these configurations.
