Columbia Pacific Dahlia Show 2024

September 13 @ 10:00 am - September 14 @ 4:00 pm PDT

Free

The Columbia Pacific Dahlia Show is hosted by the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum in Ilwaco on September 13th and 14th, 2024. After a very successful first year, this part contest-part show highlighting locally grown dahlias is back!

Participants can enter bouquets, arrangements, and single stems. If you grow many dahlias, participants can pre-register for a 6-foot table to create their own display. Pre-registration for tables is encouraged as amounts are limited. There will be ribbons awarded for People’s Choice, Best Bouquet, Biggest Bloom and Smallest Bloom.

The museum is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission to this event and the museum is free to all thanks to the Port of Ilwaco and our members.

This is a cup from a china set that belonged to my Godmother. It is handpainted with a dandelion pattern. At the time, one could go to a store and choose the blank pieces in the shapes desired and they might be made by a variety of makers and from different countries even. Then you chose how you would like it to be decorated and they painted each piece with your desired design. Ladies of a certain class might even paint their own, getting together to do china painting as a social activity.

Royal Stuart teacup, gorgeous!!

For my 6yr old daughter's tea party I made this cute teacup and saucer birthday cake using Jacque's tutorial sugarteachers.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-to-make-gumpaste-t...

The cake was a 5 x stacked rainbow cake (6' round) with the cup, saucer, fairy and no 6 made from flower modelling fondant paste. I used edible chalks, Wilton paste and Wilton pens to draw and colour the pattern on the cup and saucer.
