Royal Stuart teacup, gorgeous!!

For my 6yr old daughter's tea party I made this cute teacup and saucer birthday cake using Jacque's tutorial sugarteachers.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-to-make-gumpaste-t...

The cake was a 5 x stacked rainbow cake (6' round) with the cup, saucer, fairy and no 6 made from flower modelling fondant paste. I used edible chalks, Wilton paste and Wilton pens to draw and colour the pattern on the cup and saucer.

The teacup from my grandmother's house. As many of you know, my wonderful, loving grandmother passed away at 106. She was probably the most influential person in my life as a child. We'd spend hours and days together and I (like many, many others) adored her. She was always gentle, always patient and saw the best in everyone. The grandchildren took a teacup as a memento. This is mine: Lovely, lovely. Handpainted in occupied Japan. Probably from the 40's, I'd imagine. I adore it because it is a tiny piece of her.

After I finished my pot of tea made with this blooming pod, I felt the need to put it in the teacup and take a few more photos. They're so pretty ... shame they don't last. :(

Because I discovered my new F100's pentaprism was loose, I decided to load some Kodak slide film that was expired which I had planned on cross processing. I'm not sure how I liked this roll, I got a few good shots, but some of them just came out crappy because we lost the light midway through it.

Decaf Earl grey, I'd already had my coffee and I didn't want to go through the roof.

I am VERY happy to announce that registration is finally open for my new, McGreevy Cakes live, online classes!!

I'm really excited about these classes, as I think they are going to be so much fun! One of the classes will be creating a hand-painted sugar teacup like in this picture. Here's a link for more details www.mcgreevycakes.com/workshopsclasses/

So I decided which edit of this shot I liked. Well, at least I think I've decided.... I may change my mind later.

I didn't want to over-edit this one, and I was aiming for a quiet, vintage feel.

Any thoughts?

These two mice are part of a special commission for a wedding in July - the customer supplied this beautiful vintage teacup, and the mice are based on the Love Mouse Couple style, but quite a bit taller and holding a bunch of pink roses rather than a heart.

I really like the sun peeking through the right hand side (completely unintentional by the way). I was inspired to get this shot from here.

This is a Royal Albert tea cup in the Blackthorn pattern. According to the Ebay seller whom I bought it from, it's from around the 40's or 50's.
