My son is going to school to study Environmental Engineering. Here, his Uncle is teaching him the ropes. He's an EE as well. My other son is sooo enthused by the class. I really love the light here.

The Nave North Aisle windows are all by Ward & Hughes.
The "Teaching Window" is dedicated to George Boole and depicts his favourite passage from the Bible - "The Calling of Samuel". Funds for the window were raised by his friends in Lincoln and the content was suggested by his wife.
In memory of George Boole, Dr of Laws, of Lincoln. A man of acute intellect and manifold learning, who, being especially exercised in the severer sciences, diligently explored the recesses of mathematics and happily illuminated them by his writings. He was carried off by an untimely death in 1864.
George Boole is a pivotal figure who can be described as the ‘father of the information age’. His invention of Boolean algebra and symbolic logic pioneered a new mathematics. His legacy surrounds us everywhere, in the computers, information storage and retrieval, electronic circuits and controls that support life, learning and communications in the 21st century.
The firm of Ward & Hughes spans the history of Victorian stained glass from the Gothic revival to the Aesthetic Movement. Despite having worked in so many styles, their windows are easily recognisable since, unlike those of many artists, they are always signed “Ward & Hughes, London” with the date of manufacture. The partnership of Thomas Ward (1808-1870) and Henry Hughes (1822-1883) began in the early 1850s. Thomas Ward had been a stained glass designer for almost twenty years by this time, in partnership with JH Nixon. When Nixon retired Henry Hughes, one of his pupils and a talented designer, took his place. After Ward’s death in 1870 Hughes was free to run things as he wanted. There was clearly a change of direction in the 1870s away from the now stale Gothic style towards a style influenced by the Aesthetic Movement. Henry Hughes died in 1883 and the firm was taken over by a relative of his, Thomas Figgis Curtis (1845-1924). Soon after, the firm’s output was signed “TF Curtis, Ward & Hughes”. The firm remained operational until the late 1920s, but most of the company’s archives have been lost, so little is known about this remarkable and enduring firm.

Teaching kids to draw on an iPad
Doug Wittnebel, design director, Gensler San Ramon, taught a class of third and fourth grade students how to draw on iPads at Sand Hill School in Palo Alto, a school that serves students who show signs of learning differences, inattention, and/or social challenges.
Doug engaged the students with his own iPad drawings and showed them how to “paint” with the app. By utilizing technology to bring art back into the classroom as a therapeutic measure for children with learning differences, Gensler hopes to raise awareness of the importance of art in schools. The third and fourth graders are already using iPads for select activities.

This is a collection of two films on children's judo. The first film shows how to conduct a game session with a ball and at the same time carry out warm-up exercises, fight, learn a ground fighting technique, that is, carry out a full-fledged training session. Children age 5-7 years. The film shows 37 exercises with the ball. You will see general and special exercises. Fight with the ball, somersaults, exercises on the wrestling bridge. In the film, there is an interesting exercise in teaching Ude-hishigi-juji-gatame lever to hold the armlock between your legs. A simple exercise that allows from 5 years to learn the technique of painful hold. On the basis of this film, you can conduct a playing training. The second film is designed for athletes of a higher class. Age of athletes 10-12 years. The main topic of this lesson is learning to capture. This is a training session, which explains in detail how and where to take the grip. You will see several methods and ways of taking different grabs with the transition to the throw. This is not training in judo throwing, but training in fighting techniques. These are specific tasks that allow you to achieve victory in competitions. Based on this film, you can conduct an educational training session on captures.
