Autumn woodland, the woodland is often chaotic and crowded, but there is beauty in the chaos, these older trees, covered in moss and lichen with branches outstretched are vying for light and space, all tangled together.

You know that I don't do any sewing, but I do have a sewing box. I found some tangled thread and enjoyed using my 105mm Nikkor VR lens on the Nikon D80. I took about 15 pics and played with them in iPhoto.
I was going for a sketch of a top hat, but it ended up looking like something a leprechaun would wear. Tangles used are shown on the sketch page.

This is my new tangle, Wingfrond. In a way it’s kinda like Mooka met Printemps, and grew some wings ;)
Named in memory of my friend Fern. More backstory at 7F5R.com: bit.ly/wingfrond

Aug.2011-Another Tangled cake, this one for a friend's granddaughter. Not quite as big as the last one! Two-layer 8" cake frosted in buttercream. Tower is paper towel roll with rolled up plastic inside for strength and covered with plastic wrap on the outside. Tower top is styrofoam. Tower top is all fondant covered. My apologies to Rapunzel for the awkward likeness, lol!
From a very artistic lady in WA, USA. This tile took me an extremely long time to visualise, draw and complete.
It was around this time that I came up with my new tangle DreamDex.
Tangle Pattern, designed by my nephew Timothy (age 13). He designed this the same day we introduced him to zentangle. (See flic.kr/p/dVdpFK for completed design)
I loved doing these landscapes which is an idea I borrowed from someone else on the internet with different tangles.
tangles over rounds and stripes of plantdye: red cabbage turns blue, yellow from rubarberoot, brownish from wallnuts and purplegrey from eucalyptus with a little ironsulfate.
After the sailboat tipped, I found my self tangled up and gradually being pulled under. Experience at this, has taught me to be calm, and work your way out of the ropes. I do carry a knife in my life jacket if the situation becomes more serious. A random photo captured by the GoPro, as I worked my way out of the tangled rope.

This challenge was to do a tile from start to finish including dots, strings, tangles and shading in 15 minutes. Not that easy to do. On the left one I set the microwave timer and finished the tile; and went to look to see how much time I had left. Horrors! The timer was set wrong and didn't go off. So I don't think I did it in 15 minutes. I wised up a little on the second one, and wrote down about 6 tangle names on a scrap of paper, then I set the timer. I did get it done in 15 minutes with about 2 seconds to spare. However, I have to say I didn't find it relaxing or zen-like at all. I felt rushed and pressured. I prefer to take my time. It's also hard to be real deliberate, drawing slowly when you feel you have a deadline. I'm glad I tried it though.
